Adam Nowlan's Online Review Report Card

For my first appointment, Dr. Nowlan was extremely prepared, professional, caring, and friendly. He listened to our concerns and carefully explained everything about my treatment plan. I left feeling informed and empowered, and I have utmost confidence in him.

My father had metastatic bladder cancer in his spine. Dr. Nowlan decided to give my father 4 doses of radiation in one, citing some study regarding effectiveness. He failed to tell me and father about the side effects of such a large dose. There was no conversation about pain meds prior to radiation. By the time my father got home, he was writhing in pain, unable to speak. I called Dr. Nowlan and the only thing he said is “what is your pharmacy?”. Dr. Nowlan treats the problem and not the patient. He might be knowledgeable but he lacks the compassion that I expect from a doctor and that is not the Piedmont Way. I wouldn’t let him touch my dog.

Dr. Nowlan is an amazing doctor. He is brilliant, compassionate, patient, and kind. He makes his patients feel respected and heard. He is never dismissive, condescending, or too busy to give you a thorough and detailed explanation. There are certain medical professionals like Dr. Nowlan for whom medicine is a calling and not just a profession. Having this type of care provider in your corner is invaluable during your cancer journey. I am sorry that if, like me, you are reading this because you are a cancer patient. However, know you are in very good hands if you work with Dr. Nowlan and his wonderful staff. My cancer is incurable so I am frequently battling it, but Dr. Nowlan has been there every step of the way. I am incredibly grateful to have called him my doctor for 12-plus years.

My wife, who was in her fifth year of breast cancer, had the incredibly good fortune of having Dr. Adam Nowlan as her radiation oncologist. He is an extremely knowledgeable physician, and he is a kind and compassionate doctor who guided my wife and me through some difficult decisions. He always listened carefully to our concerns, and he explained his reasoning very thoroughly in a way we could understand. Plus, the other physicians in his practice are top-notch, and the staff always did their best to help my wife as she underwent multiple rounds of radiation. I recommend Dr. Nowlan to anyone in need of a a radiation oncologist.

Dr. Nowlan is the most caring and knowledgeable Dr. my Dad has ever had. He is extremely patient and explains treatment options in a down to earth, easy to understand manner. Can’t say enough wonderful things about this amazing Doctor.

I accompanied my sister to her consultation with Dr. Nowlan and was blown away by the amount of time that he took to review her scans and explain how his treatments would be delivered and target the area that precipitated her referral. He was compassionate and took over an hour to explain the history and evolution of her disease. He even gave her his personal contact information. While one never wants to need a radiation oncologist, I felt so grateful that he was the person to deliver her treatment.

Dr. Nowlan is the greatest doctor I have ever met. He is knowledgeable, available and always listens intently. He is caring, kind and interested in hearing his patients answers. He is the reason I agreed to advance treatment of breast cancer. I will forever be grateful that he is playing such a major role in bringing back my health.
