Review Summary
Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates received a mix of feedback, with approximately 54.9% praising the professional and knowledgeable staff, minimal wait times, and comprehensive eye care. However, 45.1% of the feedback was negative, mainly citing rude staff, billing issues, and administrative disorganization. While the practice offers high-quality care, it needs better customer service and efficient administrative processes.ScoreDoc Score

Excellent ophthalmologists and experienced staff. Vision care is excellent.
Many thoughts so I will summarize: PRIMARILY: DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!!! The doctors may be good but everything else is a train wreck. At the suggestion of the doctor's surgical coordinator I changed my health insurance, not an easy process, to allow "In Network" care. After a few visits preparing for Cataract surgery I was told I needed a referral from a PCP. Yes, that is common but I discussed with the same surgical coordinator and then it became an issue. More exams...eye measurements, pre op, paperwork, upgraded laser payment, etc...and I had a PCP provide a referral. The original surgery date had been rescheduled due to the insurance issue partly to blame on the surgical coordinator. After confirming a final appointment with the practice prior to surgery the surgical coordinator informed me by phone, the day before, that all that was necessary was to resign the paperwork. On the day of the appointment I arrived at the designated appointment time, checked in, and waited to be called. Thirty five minutes later I asked the front desk the status. At that point they physically took my chart to "the back" to see what was happening. Another ten minutes passed and I asked again as to the status of my appointment to sign papers. A tech arrived and the first words were "Can we reschedule for four days in the future". The surgery was scheduled for nine days from the that day. I informed her that I would be out of town until the day before surgery. I asked to speak to the Practice Manager. I was summoned to her office and asked her what was happening with my appointment. She stated she did not know. I asked how she could not know after four staff members had been involved. She had no explanation. I CANNOT trust my vision to a doctor's practice that does "NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING". Concerned, I immediately asked to cancel the procedure after five visits requiring approximately four hours of my in office time not to mention commute time, insurance time, and waiting time. When I requested a refund of the $2100.00 that I prepaid for the upgraded laser for the procedure. The Practice Manager stated it was not available. I left the office. When I reached my vehicle the surgical coordinator called and asked for me to return. The surgical coordinator claimed the issue that day was due to insurance. Everything was in order per the phone call surgical coordinator the prior day explicitly confirming all insurance was filed, confirming coverage, and stated that signing updated information was all that was needed. I informed the surgical coordinator that I cannot trust the doctor's practice given the MANY issues. Procedure cancelled. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!!!

I am a 72 year old woman and had a terrible experience with their billing department. I had a surgery with Dr. Palay on April 25, 2024. A week before surgery on April 19 at time of appointment, Lisa Blow requested a payment of $275 for refraction procedure which I made and office received my money before surgery. However, for the past year and until now I keep getting a bill for this same refraction procedure, for the same amount. I contacted their billing department many times requesting to correct it in their system. I spoke with Jennie on June 25, Aug 5, Aug 7 about it with no result. She said she'd call me back, but never did. Eventually I was sent over to collections. I also work in a medical field, helping patients every day and this level of customer service is absolutely atrocious!!!
Customer service, wait time in the waiting room and most of all honest , ethical communication.
I've been coming here for years. Dr. Heather Weissman is the best. The entire staff are a delight. First time I enjoyed paying a bill, that's a first.
Despite the snowy weather south and east, the office was open and operating smoothly . Both the paraprofessional and the doctor were very competent and personable as they examined my eyes.
Great experience with this group! Dr. Weissman is fantastic, patient, answers questions and did surgery to save my sight. Update 6/13/25: I have had cornea transplants in both my eyes and I'm now seeing 20/20 in 1 and 20/25 in the other. Amazing and can't believe how well I can now see! Dr. Weissman is the best!
I dislike going to eye appointments so always put it off. But I went to get an overdue eye exam today with Dr. Seltman and her associate Dan. Both of them were so friendly and nice, and put me at ease right away. I won't dread going to the eye doctor next time!
Well Done!! Dr Perszyk and the entire staff did an amazing job with my cataract surgery. The entire process was well planned and executed. The staff was friendly and competent. Dr Perszyk did an excellent job of explaining everything that would happen in the process, and his follow up the evening of the surgery was refreshing. I would highly recommend Dr. Perszyk and the staff at AOA.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
