Barbara N Croft's Online Review Report Card

It has been several years since I was a patient of Dr Croft and I have been meaning to write a review because of the nightmare she let me go through for a year, but I feel enough time has gone by and I would like to warn others in case they are suffering in the same way. I came to Dr Croft for birth control and told her I had a history of depression and most birth control pills I had taken in the past had caused horrible side effects (even the lightest ones). She was very understanding at first, and suggested an IUD instead of hormonal birth control pills, patches or shots. She sold me on the IUD and we scheduled a date to do the procedure. As soon as I had the IUD inserted I began to have problems, by the end of the first month I was having excruciating cramps that lasted two weeks of each month, worse than any menstrual cramps I had ever had these felt like contraction pains and they were constant besides the full edge the high dose ibuprofen Dr Croft put me on. Each time I went in they did ultrasounds and every other month I had a cyst on one of my ovaries (literally switching left to right each month). Some people have terrible reactions to medical treatment, and I do not blame Dr Croft for the way my body reacted, what I do blame her for are the months and months of agony that she left me in until she removed the IUD. At first she told me I just needed to get used to it, but once the cysts started she made other excuses for them and the pain, continuing to encourage I not remove it for approximately nine months, either dismissing the pain as dramatic or telling me there was nothing she could do about it because the IUD wasn’t causing them, it was something else and coincidental. When I finally could not take it anymore and I asked that she take the IUD out regardless, she responded that it was a stupid decision and a “waste for 2 short days a month of pain, taking it out won’t help the pain anyway” I could not believe it, I told her that it was not 2 days it was 2 WEEKS a month of pain and that I had been telling her that for months. She just gave me a dismissive “oh, I didn’t realize that,” and I asked how she could not have heard me for so many months, she responded that she had a lot of patients and never apologized. Within days of removing the IUD almost all the pain was gone and so far has never returned. It is important to do research about methods of birth control, but it is also expected that your doctor will care for you when they take you on, and no one should have to consistently complain about pain before a health care provider pays attention. Three years later and I still feel so upset about Dr Croft’s treatment. I hope she has retired, but if she hasn’t I warn do not see her. There are so many great gynecologists out there who will care and pay attention to you, doctors like Barbara Croft should not be practicing medicine if they are burnt out, it is not fair to the patient. She would spend ten minutes with me, and I would leave and stay in half a months pain. Ignoring serious symptoms is inexcusable for doctors, especially those with as much experience as Dr Croft.

I have been a patient of Barbara Croft for over twenty years. She not only listened to me, she also provided a solution and support when other doctors were telling me my endometriosis would "go away" as I reached menopause. Her attention and dedication to me and my health problems has literally altered my life. There is no way I can thank her for all she has done for me. I recommend her without reservation.

A really really good doctor. She tells you how it is. Very experienced, and she explains the science of her recommendations.

I come from a family of doctors so I know a thing or two about doctors and she is amazing!! Great diagnostician, great surgeon, great communicator, super personable, etc, etc. She did my hysterectomy/ Oopherectomy.

Love Dr. Croft! She is straight up honest. No mincing words. Her knowledge and years of experience are what I was/am looking for in a GYN. Hope she NEVER retires!! But alas, all things will eventually come to an end. I just hope it's later rather than sooner.

I cannot recommend this doctor. Though I was her patient for several years, she did not ever tell me I had had fibroids (her nurse practitioner mentioned it in passing when it appeared I might have ovarian cancer). This doctor responded to my reservations about the surgery she wanted to perform with this statement : "You'll never have children with THAT uterus." She yelled this at me in the billing hallway of her office, where the office staff could hear her and while she was handing my chart to her billing clerk. What a cold and hostile doctor. When I asked her staff for a copy of my medical records, they said, "no." It took one month, and persisting despite rude office staff, to get my records. This doctor negatively affected my health.

Dr. Croft is an outstanding physician.She is bright, sensitive,and an exceptional diagnostician. She has alwaysbeen kind enough to fit me into her busyschedule when I am ill. I can't thank her enough for being the kind of person she is. What a wonderful DOCTOR!
