List of Dheera Ananthakrishnan's Reviews
Dr Ananthakrishnan is brilliant. My Spine was a mess and I was in so much pain. She explained what needed to be done and she could take care of me. After an 8 1/2 hours of surgery my spine is straight, discs were replaced, it’s been a year now and I feel great, no pain, and have a new life thanks to Dr Ananthakrishnan! 😊
Dr. A is excellent. I would highly recommend her. She is the best blend of professional, personable, knowledgeable, and caring.
This is my text from Emory ahead of my first appointment with Dr. Ananthakrishnan:“10:30 am with your provider. 3rd floor Check-in. $25 fee for cncl under 2 hours/missed appointment… Do not arrive early.”I arrived promptly at 10:30. I filled out paper work. I waited. I was eventually taken back. Had my BP taken. Was told the nurse would be in. I waited longer. By 11:15 I still hadn’t seen the doctor. Or the nurse. I got dressed and went back to the front desk to get my $40 co-pay refund. This was 50 minutes after I arrived. I finally left with my refund one full hour after arriving. This appointment was scheduled over a month out at the suggestion of another Emory orthopedic doctor who suggested I see Dr. Ananthakrishnan to get “in the system” with her and established as a patient.I am glad Emory recognizes and values their physicians’ time (which is why they only allow a 20-minute “grace period” before charging YOU—the patient—for a no-show fee at $25 a pop). I am also glad I recognize that, with two full time jobs AND pilot training, that my time is valuable too. I refuse to wait 45-minutes to one hour for an initial visit with ANY doctor. We make appointments for a reason with the expectation the doctor will be somewhat prompt, or that the office will at least communicate why you have to wait beyond your appointment time. I received no update from anyone as to why the doctor was tardy, nor did I even get a chance to see the nurse BEFORE seeing the doctor. I wasted a total of almost two hours driving to and from Emory and waiting for a doctor no show. Very unprofessional.I am happy to extend grace to doctors I am established with who I know don’t make a habit of being late. But, as a first-time patient, this is just a bad look. Please do better. I will find another doctor who values their time as well as their patients time.Tip: Do NOT pay your co-pay upfront. If you have to leave because the doctor is taking too long you then have to wait even longer to get a refund.
Dr. Ananthakrishnan preformed a spinal fusion from my mid shoulder blades to pelvis. I'm in my 20's and was very nervous about such a large surgery, but Dr. Ananthakrishnan offered much support and explanation in pre-op visits. I am now roughly 3 months out of surgery and able to take walks without many breaks. Dr. Ananthakrishnan's procedure was amazing and has impacted my life positively in a way that I did not realize was possible. Scarring has also been very minimal. I have still not yet fully recovered, but I can already tell the procedure was well done and definitely worth it. Thanks again Dr. Ananthakrishnan!
Dr A. has the skill of an architect! She is brilliant, and her expertise is amazing. I was told by another Atlanta spine surgeon that he would not touch my back with the amount of multi level conditions affecting it. Dr A has had answers each step of the way! She is down to earth, compassionate, and has a wonderful bedside manner!!!
Dr. Ananthakrishnan performed scoliosis surgery on me in 2012. It was a 12.5 hour surgery and included rods and screws to correct my condition. I was in terrible shape then and on large doses on pain killers (prescribed by my PCP). I have not needed a single pain pill since leaving the hospital. She truly saved my life. I would highly recommend her.
To say I love Dr. Ananthakrishnan would be an understatement. For nearly 30 years, pain was my friend, it was my constant companion. Morphine gave me comfort and opioids were my family. Then I met Dr. Ananthakrishnan who told me I had to correct the kyphoscoliosis or be wheel-chair bound within ten years, by age 70. I didn't much care for the sound of that. Three years later, I am living a pain-free life, a drug-free life. God bless Dr. Ananthakrishnan! She's a miracle worker.
I can understand why she only has one review. I had an appointment scheduled for over three weeks with this doctor. During my route I had called because I had got stuck in traffic and knew I was going to be late. Her office indicated that I had a 20 minute window timeframe from my scheduled appointment time and I had to drive all the way from North down south to visit this doctor. After I was checked in by the nurse who was insistent I get checked in immediately, the doctor decided that she did not have the band with to see me. If she so successful and above her self that she doesn’t see her patients and cancels on her patients when they drive over 25 miles to see her? I highly do not recommend this doctor! I will be sure to post on every social media available as to how rude she was and did not follow her own contractual obligations to her patient. Is this the kind of Dr you want operating on you???? Go elsewhere
I went in to see this doctor for spinal surgery. And I must say I did not have a good experience. When I was taken to the room for my surgery to discus things about the surgery she was very rude. Once the surgery was done and I was placed in the recovery room, she came in to tell me she wanted to cut into me again due to a mistake.I was distraught and in a lot of pain and asked her why the surgery wasn’t done correctly in the first place instead of trying to open me again. What made this situation worse than the physical pain I was going through, was that she banned me from her practice and gave no follow up assistance. Now it’s been two years since this surgery and I’m suffering so much from back pain and other complication.I do not recommend this doctor, I do not want anyone to go through the emotional and physical pain I’m going through. This has made me so afraid of surgeries and has caused me to lose trust in a doctors ability to fix what’s wrong with my back.
She will find out your real reasons for pain. She rocks!I highly recommend her if you have chronic back pain. Find out what is wrong

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
