List of John Goldman's Reviews
Worst, rudest, uncaring , mean doctor I have ever seen! I’ve had severe JIA for 48 years and, unfortunately, had been seeing Dr. Goldman for treatment for many of those years. Finally, as I became older and tired of being treated so badly, I stopped going to him. He is so very arrogant and uncaring!!
If you are a woman do not see this Dr. He will touch you inappropriately.
He may be one of the top Lupus folks in Georgia, but he does not "believe in" Fibromyalgia or a number of other diseases which rheumatologists typically treat. His staff will not tell you this, so as others have noted, you will wait 2+ hours (he is permanently running late, perhaps because of the time he takes in each appt blaming the decline of the world on the democrats) in order for him to insult you and your previous physicians, and tell you that you should get off your backside and get over it. If you have the bad fortune to be 'stuck' with him you can expect him to immediately discontinue most of your meds, even those that should be slowly tapered off, and possibly refer you to psychologists or psychiatrists. All in all, I would recommend avoiding this doctor unless your politics align with his, and your condition happens to be one of those that he "believes in". (Funny, I thought the point with science was that it did not require "belief" in it for it to work, unlike religion.)
I've been going there for many years. I believe he is very good at what he does. However, he is very political. His walls are covered in political statements. He blames all the world's troubles on Obama and likes to talk about it. This has caused me to consider looking somewhere else but I keep going back because he seems to be good at his job.
Just visited with Dr Goldman - again after many visits over the last 40 years. He is absolutely the most intelligent person that I have met. I have had rheumatoid for more than 42 years. His treatments have kept me out of a wheelchair. I have waited many hours in all of those years. I will tell you, he is so worth the wait. When I am in the treatment room, I have his full attention. He never rushes his patients - he treats each on an individual basis. I always keep that in mind when I am waiting in the reception area. One of his greatest assets is his ability to diagnose problems or issues outside of his speciality and does not hesitate to send you to someone if he sees the need. He has taught me to take charge of my disease. I always give my input and he respects my opinion. I have referred many people to him, who were pleased with his care. I too, do not care for his political views. I just ignore them. I think his passion comes from watching medicine take a nose dive over the last few years. He still continues to take Medicare patients, even though his compensation is minimal, at most. Many doctors do not take Medicare. I drive two hours for my appointments and will continue to do so. So take a good book and know that when it comes your time to see him, he will give you all of his attention. Marilyn McGahee
Dr. Goldman is a wonderful, brilliant and caring doctor. He has really helped me with my fibromyalgia and given me ways to deal with it. I first went to him 25 years ago when other doctors diagnosed me with lupus. He was able to discount that diagnosis and get me on the right track to better health. I moved away after 6 years but 3 years ago I found myself within driving distance and was able to see him again. Best rheumatologist I have ever had!
Great diagnostician. Is a physician who practices medicine. Takes his time and is thorough. He's one of a kind.
I thought I'd finally post my own horror story, but I'll just give you the basics: He spent the entire visit hitting on me and making lewd, suggestive comments about what he perceived to be my dating life.

Obviously, this man has been allowed to get away with way too much, and for far too long.

Spare yourself. Don't go. (Oh, and I then spent all day there, taking expensive tests with office equipment he just happened to own...) Color me stupid, but I was in shock, I suppose.

This is perhaps the most unprofessional medical environment I've experienced--and I've experienced a whole lot.
I have been seeing Dr John Goldman for close to 40 years since before he left Emory University for suspected lupus and fibromyalgia. I have always found him to be a competent, compassionate doctor.. He is the best at diagnosing problems based on symptoms & exams. He spends lots of time following up w/ patients , even calling my husband and me after hours. He cared for my mother and was able to get her off of prednisone which was creating problems; while diagnosing and treated her properly. He was kind and joked w/ her making her very comfortable. She likened him a lot and he helped her w/ arthritis & fibromyalgia after spending hours reviewing her extensive paperwork and a through exam. Thanks Dr Goldman!
Kept asking if I was depressed. Took me off my meds and wouldn't put me back on them. I lost my job and health insurance because my body was flaring so badly I couldn't function at work. Was later diagnosed with lupus and sjogrens by another rheumatologist when more antibodies surfaced. Drs make a commitment "to do no harm" - he didn't follow that.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
