Piedmont Transplant Institute's Online Review Report Card

My husband was a living donor for a friend, here at Piedmont, on Aug 13, 2021. Dr Minja was his robotic surgeon. We had a WONDERFUL experience throughout the 6 month process. Leanne was our transplant coordinator. She walked us through the process so well, it was almost like she became a friend. She was extremely responsive and detailed, and I truly feel she was passionate about her job. Dr Minja is an AMAZING person inside. He has a strong faith and a heart of gold. He is truly an incredible guy that is clearly using Gods gifts as a surgeon to save peoples lives. It is absolutely incredible what this team does to complete this process and we will be forever touched by them. My husband said if he had another to give, he would 110% do it again. The best hospital with the best of the best doctors and staff. Im only 8 months post and the care I've received so far has been great.

Im three weeks post-op and I am very unhappy with the patient care I have received. DO NOT COME HERE.My transplant coordinator, sherry, would never call me or call me back. Instead, she would speak with my mom give a quick message and then say she would call me later and never would.During my preop, the surgeon was very dismissive of the questions I had. He did not give me direct answers for my questions but instead always answered “look at the big picture.”In the hospital after my surgery, I could not feel my leg. When the doctors came to round, I mentioned it and nonchalantly the drs told me it was normal. I feel like this is something that should’ve been covered in the pre-op.The night nurses I had the first night were amazing but after that. The nurses did not come when I would ask. I only asked when my machine would start beeping or After I got my catheter out and needed to go to the restroom. I had to unplug myself to go to the restroom bc then I would’ve peed on myself from waiting.I was feed high sodium foods and sugary foods with each meal. My sugar would come back high and they would give me insulin. I don’t have diabetes. I didn’t want to drink bouillon water so I ate the jello and fruit.Post-op care is not great. They tell you, you’ll be prioritized for labs and then wait 40-50 mins to be checked in after everyone else. You’ll never see the same nephrologist but rather a “team” my only favorite person is the nurse with the Jheri curls. He’s the ball of hope and sunshine you need when you’re in pain and depressed.

I just passed my 2 year transplant anniversary and I can’t recommend Piedmont enough. My team was/ is empathetic, understanding, caring & amazing. The care they give is ongoing throughout your life.

Excellent care for my husband (kidney recipient) and myself ( donor)We are 6 months post transplant and continue to have excellent care! Dr. Hundley and Dr. Minja, our surgeons, were amazing! The 6th floor nursing team was fantastic.

This is an unbelievable place. I can't say enough great things about them! If you need help, this is the place to go! The people that work here are AMAZING!

I've been through a lot of things with my transplant. I think they were marvelous!
