Sabreena Basu's Online Review Report Card

I have been to several endocrinologist plus my GP Dr. Basu was by far the best. She listened to everything I told her and resolved some problems the others either could not or didnt take the time to check. So glad I found her.

I saw Dr Basu twice for my thyroid issue. I have thyroid cancer and was referred to her by my oncologist. Dr. Basu does not listen to the needs or concerns of her patients. I cannot take Synthroid and Levothyroxine because of the affect they have on me. She insisted I switch meds. I had to tell her 5 times I couldnt switch. She then refused to adjust my meds until I agreed to do as she wanted. I fired her and wrote a compaint to Emory.

I have Hashimotos thyroid disease and was diagnosed with this by two other endocrinologists after being under the care of Dr. Basu. My T3 levelswere never tested and I later learned after suffering with illness for many months that my T3 was low. There was not a thorough work up and other causes were not ruled out like Celiacs or Lymes or Lupas. I was told my thyroid was healthy based only on TSH and T4 levels with Synthroid treatment and that my problems were not thyroid related. This has since been proven incorrect. Complete waste of time resulting in months of delay in receiving proper treatment and months of suffering with sickness.

I hate to go all ad hominem on this one but what a WANKER of a doctor. From my experience she does what she has to do follows whatever established textbook procedure for diagnosing treatment of a condition does nothing beyond that. She does not have a bedside manner one way or another something I consider relatively mot since to me its all about consistency accuracy in treatment. but she botched that as well . She made a mistake due to lack of follow up needed for surgery that almost cost me MY LIFE then had the audacity to try blame me for not calling despite a passed deadline constant calls up to that point with instructions to call back the next day.. After the surgeon who I am pretty sure put her in her place discussed the situation with her she tried to overcompensate with a multitude of tests but it didnt matter at that point. So if you have a life threatening condition you have to use an Emory endocrinologist to get to an awesome surgeon which is what I did just keep all the above in mind. Otherwise do what you can to avoid this one.

Dr. Basu not only cares about my Hypothyroidism but also has helped me with my other medical issues. She takes in consideration what else is going on with your body and I appreciate that so much. She is also very kind and professional. GREAT DOCTOR

Staff rude. Not professional at calling back and updating patient records. Spoke to a supervisor numerous times to correct and they were very rude and not supportive.

I have hypothyroidism and was wanting a second opinion. I was saying how my vitamin B was low and vitamin D was low. I also have had trouble losing weight. She suggested plastic surgery as a solution for this

Arrogant condescending argumentative unwilling to listen. This was my experience.

We have since switched endocrinologists and have learned what it is to have a doctor who listens and who truly understands how to treat diabetes. Dr. Basu is not this type of doctor. She prescribes treatment without considering the side effectreaction to the drugs she prescribes. She is definitely not an example of the level of healthcare offered by Emory doctors.
