University Gynecologic Oncology's Online Review Report Card

I am a survivor of ovarian cancer for 10 years now thanks to Dr Benigno and his staff. He was very compassionate, very aggressive with treatment but was sure to treat the person as well as the disease. I credit his Trials for saving my life as I signed up to be a guinea pig in case I didn’t make it to possibly help someone else survive this horrible disease. If anyone you know needs services for gynecological cancer this is definitely the best place to receive treatment.

Dr Benigno and Sherry saved my life and have kept me cancer free since 20001. Everyone at the office is kind and caring. Excellent care.

Great team of doctors and surgeons

We met Dr Benigno Feb 2016 when he dx my then 48yo wife with ovarian cancer.He came across as charming, knowledgeable & experienced.Unfortunately he was not a good fit for us, and I deeply regret choosing him to care for my wife.He failed to disclose that my wife suffered from a very rare form of cancer, a carcinosarcoma. Another oncologist revealed that to us some time later.Dr B tended to avoid bad news, when possible. He would say he had plenty of time for questions, but then be out the door 10 sec later. He seemed quite impressed with himself (I heard him say "I'm not without influence" a dozen times), but reluctant to tell up his sleeves and do whatever possible to help my wife.There were times I'd drop her off to park and meet her coming out of his office, appointment over in a few minutes.Several times we'd meet to discuss scans, and I'd have to ask for a scan summary, as he seemed to prefer to spin the scan results as positive without actually going over them.Several times I expressed frustration that what Inread online about my wife's disease seemed far more dire than what Dr B presented. He'd sort of condescendingly pooh-pooh any online data. Yet my wife was dead 35mos after dx.Once standard of care chemo was done, Dr B abandoned us. "Go to MD Anderson and get on a trial" There was no suitable trial at MDA, so I took my wife to Dana Farber, Emory, UAB, Sarah Cannon & Greenville desperately looking for a solution. Dr B was absent for all that, and completely uninvolved in my correspondence with Sloan Kettering, Bethesda, Mayo & others.In the end, we actually moved to a different MD in the practice, because Dr B was useless.He's an old man (80?) who's very interested in his cancer foundation & speaking engagements to promote it.Not a good choice if you're in need of a doc to seriously commit to doing everything possible to heal your wife.

Dr Cantuaria gave me the courage and confidence to face and get through the darkest time of my life. He is a truly caring and capable surgeon. The staff and nurses and support personnel have made my journey easier than my family thought was possible. I am forever grateful to them all. Their friendly smiles and welcoming attitudes are wonderful.

We have had terrible experiences with Dr. Yap. We book an appointment & get seen by an assistant who has to keep going back & forth to ask Dr. Yap the questions we are asking. The final straw was yesterday when an appointment was booked by Beth for my MIL but when we showed up there was no appointment on the books. My husband & his mother sat for over 40 minutes waiting to be seen & then was told Dr. Yap could not see them. And there was no one else in the waiting room! Stay away from them. We are looking now for a new doctor.

Dr. Tenney is the absolute PHENOMENAL! Fantastic diagnostician, surgeon, very warm and personable, and provides rigorous follow-up.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr B. and Sherry. Both always have been professional and reassuring. I'm at the 10 year mark now and have annuals with the team.

10 years ago, Dr. Benigno and his team saved my life. He's an amazing physician and I'm eternally grateful to have been under his care during an incredibly challenging time in my life. I would not go anywhere else.

I had a complete hysterectomy and Dr. Yapp performed the surgery. She was awesome and knew her stuff, however, her nurse Riquitta needs to have some sensitivity training when it comes to patients. First of all, I was rushed through my pre-surgery appointment with her because she told me she has other patients to see. WOW, so Rude and uncaring. Then after my surgery, I called to ask her about pain medication after leaving the hospital, and she told me to refer to the folder that was given to me prior to my surgery. I was like, I don't even remember where it is, let alone have the time to read through a big packet like that when I'm in pain. Then I called her because I was experiencing a fever of 100.5 and she told me they wouldn't have concerns of this temperature unless it was 101. OMG, it was less a degree away, really? I then called my MD and they saw me that same day and told me I had an infection and prescribed me some antibiotics for it. UNBELIEVEABLE. Also, when you call the doctor for advice, the nurses takes all of the calls and don't call you back until the next day or two. If you're looking for nurturing after having a delicate and fragile surgery such as a hysterectomy, you're not going to get it here. Their nurse team SUCKS! They need to fire their nurse team. They have too much power and do not follow up with the doctor when you're having a situation as serious as a FEVER!
