I understand that dr.Shanks is very busy and her staff can make some mistakes....My husband made an appointment 3 weeks ago for today( dr Shanks was recommended by our family doctor).Today he arrived 15 minute later because on the envelope that we received from the office the address was wrong.So dr.Shanks reffused to see my husband.He missed a day of work, and his state is very bad due to his allergy that he suffer from a long time and for this consultation it was mandatory to stop the anti alergy treatment .In my opinion this is unkind and rude.They didnt give any chance to my husband even it was not his fault.

I love the care and concern I receive from Dr. Shanks. I have a complicated case and she is always upbeat, even when the news is less than fun. She answers all of my questions and helps me weigh my options before taking the next step. She never rushes a visit and is very compassionate.

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Shanks since a live-threatening ant allergy reaction in 2006. We went in weekly for allergy shots for three years and then we went on maintenance shots. During this time, her practice grew. When she was at a smaller practice, she seemed to care more. One example, my daughter was bitten by an ant and had a reaction when on her maintenance shots. When we went in for our next shot, Dr. Shanks couldn't be bothered to come out and talk to my daughter about her reaction and reassure her that her allergy was getting better which was very disappointing considering we had been seeing her for at least 6 years by that time. I questioned her about it at our next visit and was told (very dismissively) basically that her reaction wasn't severe enough for her to come out to talk to us. We got a little behind on her maintenance shots and got a different story from a different nurse every time we went in to try to catch up on her maintenance shots. Every time we thought we were back on track, a different nurse claimed we weren't on maintenance and we needed to come back again for a few weeks. We constantly asked the nurses to have Dr. Shanks come out to speak to us so we could verify with her when we needed to come in for shots. Once again, she would not come out into the waiting room to see us. The last straw was the last time we went in for yet another maintenance shot only to be told that we should have been coming in for weekly shots for the last SIX MONTHS. The nurse was very ugly acting and I'm sure that, yet again, Dr. Shanks didn't get the message to come out and speak to us to get us back on track. It's a shame to walk away from a practice after 8 or 9 years with the same doctor, but at this point I have no idea if my daughter is getting the treatment she needs or if it is even helping. I feel like they are just asking for more shots so they can charge more money for each one and not putting the safety and welfare of my child into consideration.

I had made an appointment with another physician specializing in asthma care, but was told it would take up to 4 weeks. When I called Dr. Shanks she agreed to see my daughter during her lunch the next day. She is attentive to my daughter and understanding to her parents needs. The staff is friendly and willing to go beyond to ensure that my daughter is comfortable.

Dr. Shanks is possibly the best doctor I've ever been to. She is thorough, caring and committed to make sure you leave her office feeling better. I was in the hospital for another problem and had been there for a week, on my last day I had severe asthma attacks. I was released and they let me go home, Dr. Shanks knowing she was going on vacation the next day, came to my house for a house call to make sure my breathing wasn't compromised before going on vacation. She is the sweetest most caring doctor. If you need an allergy and asthma doctor I highly recommend her!!!
