Thomas Eye Group's Online Review Report Card

Dr David at the Hamilton Mill Thomas Eye Group practice are very good at what they do. However, how they offer eye care is on another level. From the time my wife arrived till the time we saw Dr David every member of the team were professional, thoughtful, caring, informative and polite. Our eye exam and my subsequent prescription has left me with the upmost confidence in this practice for my future eye care needs.

I will always come back here! The staff was amazing and so welcoming! From the time we walked in the door and were checked in, it was all happy and smiling faces. We have been to several offices for my daughter (9) and this by far was a 10/10. We were able to get her both glasses and contacts with no hassel. Thanks guys!

My son had a cut on his eye from horseplay and luckily for us the Hamilton Mill office fit him in and treated him immediately. Dr. Phaup and his assistant’s were amazing with my son and made him feel like a VIP. Thank you SO much!!!

I'm not sure where to begin. My wife and I were forced to find a new optometrist because our insurance changed. I searched the directory and found Thomas Eye Group near our home. September 30th, 2021 My 10yr old daughter and my wife was scheduled to see Dr. Phaup and myself and my 10yr old son was scheduled to see a different doctor. Unexpectedly me and my son appt. was canceled the same day due to the Dr. having a family emergency. I immediately called the office to try to have my appt scheduled with my family and Dr. Phaup was open to seeing my family of 4. We arrived at 3pm and was greeted by two pleasant office employees. We proceeded to complete the new patient paperwork and was informed Thomas Eye Group has a patient rule where you have to opt to have your eyes dilated (every patient) I was not in agreement with not having an option to say no and my kids having their eyes dilated as we were given a choice at our previous provider. My wife and daughter were seen first and all went well, myself and my son went last. After my eyes were dilated, Dr. Phaup proceeded to look at my eyes and saw something in the back of my eye. I opt out of having the film of my eye but Dr. Phaup proceeded to take the film just out of concern for me. After the film was taken Dr. Phaup saw something very concerning and immediately took my blood pressure. My blood pressure was stroke level high and Dr. Phaup recommended I go to Urgent Care ASAP. After monitoring my BP, Urgent Care was the next stop. Dr. Phaup did something I've never seen a Dr. do EVERRRRRR. He ask my wife to take our children home and he will monitor my pressure until she return. When my wife returned my BP was still high so off the Urgent Care we went. Dr. Phaup left his practice and followed us to Urgent Care. I was seen immediately by a nurse and Dr. Phaup went to the back with me and my wife stayed in the lobby due to COVID Restrictions. My BP remained high and I was immediately sent to ER for care. Dr. Phaup did not go to the ER with us however he did extend his services again by writing a note in my wife's phone to show to the ER Personnel when we arrived. When I arrived in ER, I was seen STAT. I stayed in ICU for 2 days because my BP remained high. Because of quick action from Dr. Phaup and his amazing staff going ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure I was going to be ok, my wife and I are forever grateful for his expertise, his willingness to take extra test to look into my eye, caring enough to speak to the Dr's on my behalf and ensuring I was ok even after he left us. He called & texted my wife on several occasions to check on my and my family. I am a believer and I know Dr. Phaup was sent to us by GOD to orchestrate this entire process as he knew this was going to happen, GOD did not want me to worry. I am on my way to a new and healthy lifestyle. If you are looking for an Optometrist in the Gwinnett area who goes above and beyond, who is very passionate about his work, who is unselfish in all ways, who is funny, who cares more for his patients then himself, then you have this and more with Dr. Phaup. MY FAMILY IS FOREVER GRATEFUL TO YOU AND THOMAS EYE GROUP. THANK YOU VERY MUCH..... ***PLEASE NOTE**** Thank you Dr. Phaup for have the mandatory/required tests in place for your patients. It saved my husbands life.

The staff here is SO sweet. I messed up badly because I'm a noobie when it comes to eye-care, having only had a professional vision test at an eye doc once before this time (Costco.) It's not Thomas Eye Group's fault that they were doing their job and rang me up as self-pay and sent my prescription off so promptly, meaning, it was too late to adjust it with my insurance and submit it properly sooooo my awesome glasses just cost WAY too much, but again, totally my goof!Anyways, coming here I felt like they cared about me as a patient and a person. It was quiet, clean, and everybody was good on Covid protocols. Soft background music, and just an overall warm and friendly vibe made what would normally be a yawn-worthy appointment at least a bit more enjoyable. My glasses are awesome and my peepers are happy - just not my wallet lol.

Dina, Mary, and Dr. Phaup were amazing to work with, along with all the team members! The whole facility is very welcoming and they make your appointment fun! They walked me through every step so nothing was unexpected. I couldn’t think of one bad thing to say!
