MIchael N Steinbook's Online Review Report Card

I was suffering from internal bleeding of unknown origin and was referred to Dr. Steinbook. He was to conduct both an endoscopy and colonoscopy. He performed the endoscopy and found nothing. He later performed a colonoscopy and found a large polyp which he described as the likely cause of my bleeding. He did not remove the polyp because it was "beyond his skill level", but would have one of his qualified colleagues arrange to remove it. It has been over month since that call from Dr. Steinbook and I have not heard from his colleagues. However, I was subsequently rushed to UAB where they performed an endoscopy and found a cancerous tumor in my stomach. The tumor and part of my stomach were removed. Stay as far away from this guy as you possibly can.

he charged for a visit which was only a appointment to set up a colonoscopy. This was my third colonoscopy and I have never been charged to set up a appointment before His office staff is very slow to respond to phone calls. He keeps his files in manila folders. They overcharged for a prepayment and it tooks weeks to get my money back.

Worst doc in the world...dont waste your time.

Steinbrook is a horrible doctor Does not care for the patient or their family.

Dr Steinbook's office manager made a tentative appointment for my wife but never answered or returned a half dozen calls to confirm the appointment. The office didn't care enough about my wife's well being to even return a call and deny her appointment. These are the most callus and uncaring people and do not deserve to be attending the care of hurting patients.

I would not go back to that office ever again. Its hard to find.They still keep records in manilla folders. This is not old school its ancient school. Customer service and phones are rarely answered. They request pre payment and then are very slow to submit claims. I was referred to a nurse prationer even though I was paying to see a specialist. They changed the location of the procedure at the last minute so I had to change my plans.

Dr Steinbook is an absolutely amazing doctor with an awesome bedside manner. He is very open, honest, and blunt but treats his patients with respect and dignity. He takes time to answer questions, encourage you, and talk to you about your symptoms.

Absolutely awful! If I could have given him negative stars I would have. This doctor does not care about his patients. Even after 3 trips to the hospital in an ambulance, excruciating pain, and a loss of twenty pounds this doctor offered no help. He just continued to say "take the medicine and wait it out." After going to another doctor, I found out Dr. Steinbook did not give me a routine test that should be given after several rounds of antibiotics. I suffered for months because he failed.
