List of Joanne P Mcalvany Md's Reviews
Intelligent, patient, and kind. Great doctor.
Moved to Atlanta for grad school and was in the middle of an Accutane treatment which is a mess to transfer physicians in the middle of it. Saw Dr. McAlvany and she was so sweet and made the transition easy. Had a bit of a problem come up with a nursing assistant via a prescription but that’s easily overlooked by the kindness and helpfulness of Dr.McAlvany. Would recommend!!!
Dr. Mcalvany is so awesome. She is very attentive and listened to all of my concerns. We were able to come up with a plan that worked for us both for my ailments. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
I felt she was condescending, arrogant, and hurried. Had a friend who went to her and said same thing. She needs to work on her bedside manner. Would not recommend Dr. McAlvany
Love this doctor. Answered all my questions. So nice!!!
I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to anyone. She spent half a minute looking at my son’s skin. He’s 7 years old and was surprised by how fast she was out the door. Staff is horrible receptionist wanted to reschedule my appointment because I was 5 min late my appointment was at 12:10 I got there at 12:15 and she was planning on rescheduling. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone horrible staff and doctor...
Dr. McAlvaney was very professional and took care of my 17 year old daughter Mary's concerns over teenage skin problems.
I saw Dr. McAlvany for a scalp issue. She took care of me and had me in and out in less than 15 minutes. Very satisfied with her treatment.
I had rash that symptoms like scabies, and was told Tea tree allergic rash by this doctor and she said Rx will be at my pharmacy electronically.. It took 25 minutes to the pharmacy from clinic, and it wasn't there. When I called for Rx to be sent over asap, it will be sent before 5pm, so come back to Pharmacy after 5pm. I had to demand Rx to be sent now for over 30 minutes with 3 different personals put on holding for on over 5 minutes. When I used all medication, requested for more refills, the recording said if no one calls back Rx will be at the pharmacy, if there's problem refilling Rx nurse will call, give 24 hrs to check with pharmacy. I found out that Rx wasn't sent. Clinic said at first doctor was not in today, yesterday too. But when I asked again if doctor comes in Tuesday, was she in today, yes she was. And nurse never spoke to doctor for My medication refills. They don't care if patient is suffering or not by delaying medication Rx written. I never experienced anything like that. I've been to doctors in AL, GA, NY, NJ, Korea and England over my life time. But I never had doctor sending patient to Pharmacy and not writing Rx till end of the business. I will never go back to this clinic.
Absolutely HORRIBLE experience! This Dr. spent about 1 minute with my child who was over the moon excited to FINALLY have this appointment and get some help with her acne. Dr. BARELY listened and glanced maybe ONCE at her face. Then left. Took 48 hours and 2 phone calls to get prescription filled. Then daughter had reaction to medication and I am 48 hours in...2 calls and response from Dr. was "stop using medication." OK...YES Thank you...did that immediately. I am in the process of getting referred to different practice. Office staff is nice enough when you are on phone with them, but then ZERO follow up - even with a promise to return call. I WISH WISH WISH I had checked out this practice prior to making appointment. I will be following up with my insurance. They should NOT have to pay for this horrible service!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
