Dr. Michael Champney is a champ and a scholar Upon making first contact with his staff at Dekalb Surgical Associates they were very friendly show concern empathized and were swift in scheduling my first consultation. During our meeting he gave me his professional opinion explore options explained his observation and advised me of his comfort level in performing the surgery. He also answered all my questions and concerns about the surgical procedure as well as postsurgery recovery. Years ago I was diagnosed with what was believed to have been a hemangioma and the specialist at the time performed an outpatient embolization which was an attempt to shrink the growth however it remained meaning the process wasn’t successful. Long story short this growth became very painful and Dr. Champney was able to expedite and schedule my surgery within two weeks of meeting him amid the pandemic The surgery was very successful removal of vascular malformation I’m thankful to his support staff at Northside Hospital for helping perform with excellence. Dr. Champney comes highly recommended for his professionalism show of care and his ability to interact with his patients as well as answering questions. Kudos to the Doc and his nurses Tom K.

Dr Champney made me feel comfortable within five minutes of our first consultation. He was clear and concise about the procedure I was about to have performed. Hernia repair By the time I had surgery on July 6 I knew exactly what to expect Surgery went perfectly and I was stunned that there was virtually no pain. I was prescribed pain medication but never needed it. The minor discomfort I experienced was easily dealt with using an ice pack for twenty minutes twice a day for two days. Within two days I was up and about as if nothing happened. This has been the most pleasurable surgical experience I have ever had. Dr. Champney and his staff are totally professional yet add a human touch that cant be matched. I feel I couldnt have been in better hands.

I had the unfortunate experience in choosing this office to have a consult for a hernia surgery. The consult lasted all of 10 minutes in which no ultrasound or any imaging was performed. Doctor Champney was very courteous and and professional. However when trying to obtain an exact price of the proceedure I was met with well we dont know it could be 8k it could be as high as 16k. I was then asked to pay for the office vist. The person took my credit card and processed the payment$200 then handed me a credit card slip and called me some other patients name. First red flag.... I then had her reverse the payment and correctly process my fee. I then asked for an invoice and was told that they dont provide one only a credit card slip. Second red flag...I found this odd so I decided not to use this facility for my procedure. Three weeks later I receive a bill stating that I owe an additional $92.17 . I promptly called my insurer to find out the details of this charge and was told that the facility billed for an extended hour for the consultation. This is why we pay such high insurance premiums the 10 minute consult which I payed a $200 my insurer payed $289 now they want an additional $92.17. Stay far away from this place

Dr. Champney is a gentleman and a scholar. His background is mostly in surgery but the fact that he still takes time to accommodate patients at Dekalb Surgical is truly a luxury for all. I had a very painful issue that Dr. Champney was able to solve relatively quickly. There were a few restrictions on how to go about solving the issue aka my work schedule time to recover cost associated etc. Dr. Champney was stellar in recommending the option tht fit best. 1010 in my book.

Dr. Champney is an excellent physicians who listens when I speak He is calm and reassuring and I ha e full confidence in his opinions.

Dr. Champney is very knowledgeable and understanding. He took the time to listen to my concerns and answered all of my questions. He did not bully me into immediate surgery but discussed the options risks and benefits of all options with me he even drew pictures. An earlier review commented that the office staff were not pleasant which was completely wrong based on my experience. Everyone was incredibly kind and responsive

Dr Champney seems to be very knowledgeable and polite and friendly but his staff is extremely unprofessional if you decide to schedule a procedure and a nurse is supposed to call you be prepared she will not. your choice either find another doctor or call them again and again . I called twice had no response and found another doctor.

Dr. Champney is not your typical surgeon. He is accessible he is respectful he listens well he cares. You get the feeling you are collaborating with him in your care. The staff are kind and sincere and seem to actually respect your needs and respect the fact that hey youre sitting in a surgeons office whats NOT stressful about that? and they respond accordingly with compassion. Oh and Dr. Champney is an excellent surgeon.
