Piedmont Mountainside - Ellijay Emergency Room's Online Review Report Card

I went into Piedmont ER in Ellijay on a Sunday morning, and was treated very good. I was suffering with Sciatic Nerve pain. I was taken to X-Ray, a room. Dr. Williams came in right away. He is a wonderful doctor. He knew exactly what I needed to get some relief and, after showing me exercises for sciatic and medications with a snack & ginger ale. I know we are blessed to have this ER in our “small town”… So thankful for Dr. Williams!

I went into the ER very sick, everyone treated me with so much respect. They took me straight back for CT, then Dr came in explained, I would be transported to Piedmont Atlanta. I have been using the piedmont medical team for 6 years, I would highly recommend Piedmont to anyone that is looking for true care and treat you like a person. They care about their patients, have some of the best Drs, nurses and staff of any hospital or facility I have ever been in. Thank you all for your care.

Absolutely the worst care I have ever received from a nursing/medical staff. But first - the ultrasound and CT technicians were great, caring, professional. Here is the truth with no exaggeration:I arrive incoherent, in tears with severe stomach pain. By far. The worst pain I have ever had. Nothing made it feel better - no position, water, cold/heat - nothing. I was placed in a room immediately (that was good). The place must have been 80 degrees. I took my shirt off and was writhing on the cold floor to cool me down (later, the AC was turned on). I could continue to write a dissertation on this but let’s get to it:• I was there for about 3.5 hours and NOT once did a nurse come in to see if I needed anything...like a drink of water or a pillow• I did find a cup on the floor with some white contents coming out of it that a nurse asked me to drink earlier...it was on the floor for a couple hours, so I just washed it out and drank from it•to fill up this cup from the floor, I had to slightly move the large open container of my urine sample ...just sitting there, lid open, next to the room sink• there was trash all over the floor. No one came by to tidy up anything• I had no idea who my nurse was...as the board in the room where the Dr. and nurse fill out there names in dry erase was empty; I guess no name on board = no one responsible for the patient• it took 5 attempts by two different nurses to get a needle/iv into my arm• I was in severe pain when I first entered my room, and I was left there writhing on the floor in pain for what seemed like 15 minutes...I stood up, opened the door and stepped out asking likely loudly when someone could help me...a security guard then comes to the room all geared up with a SA handgun attached to his chest and tells me to “stop acting like a baby.” He says in his most impressive drill sergeant manner: “do you understand me?!?” Little did he know that I spent 5 years in the 3rd infantry division 25 years ago and was about to get in his face even with my severe pain.•before I left, I asked one woman if she was the doctor as she had no name tag on, etc. visible to me that identified her. She answered: what do you think? I told you when I first saw you.” I responded that I was in so much pain, I guess I missed that introduction.I took pictures of the trash on the floor, the cup with the white stuff coming out into the floor, the large open container of my urine sitting right there next to my room sink, etc.The place was absolutely horrible. It was like I was there to service them or something. In my later 40’s, I’ve seen quite a lot by now. But this was on a whole new level of “I don’t give a sd$&!” by a medical staff. And the SWAT looking security guard with chest holstered weapon telling me to stop acting like a baby defies anything I’ve ever experienced in a place designed to care for other people.

Worst experience I've ever had at a hospital and will never go back! Will NEVER recommend this hospital! Nurses, paramedic, and doctor were extremely rude and not compassionate at all.The front desk lady Brenda, radiology tech, respiratory tech Andrew, and the security guy were very nice and treated me with respect.It took 4 hours to be brought back and I was the only person there for 2 of the hours. When I was finally brought back I was handed a gown told to change into it and she would bring a blanket( never came). Five minutes later the nurse comes in and asks why I was there I told her. She didn't go over meds and didn't go over my history. She said she was going to ask the physician what labs to order. Forty five minutes later and a call to see what was going on the doctor came in. She didn't know the reason I was coming in, she didn't look at my medical history, and she didn't know I was on any medicine. She proceeded to belittle me when I was trying to explain everything to her. She ordered some "basic" tests and left. I over heard the nurse laugh and say oh I forgot to ask you about her.They came in after ct scan and did some labs and started a iv. At this point I was freezing and my hands were purple. They still didn't bring a blanket. After about another hour and thirty minutes the doctor came in and told me my results.i asked her some questions and she was very rude to me when I did. She treated me like a child when explaining her answers. I will never go back to a place where they treat patients with disrespect and disregard.

Everyone was very nice but the care administered (such as it was) was lacking at best. I had a piece of granite fall on my leg and knock me to the floor in a way that I landed on the back of my head. They did x-rays and a CT scan but the MD did NOTHING else! He did not do anything that even closely resembled a neuro exam. No exam of my cranial nerves. No reflex testing. No looking in my eyes. No strength test. No drift test. No cognitive test. He never even put a hand on me except to look at the 2 cm. wound I had on my lower leg. He should be replaced immediately as he is a lawsuit just waiting to happen and should I develop a subdural hematoma, I will certainly explore that possibility

My son had an accident and needed stitches. They were great with him, and made him feel at ease. The doctor was excellent, and the nurses very kind. We were in an out very swiftly. The building was also very clean and we'll kept.

I received excellent care at Piedmont Ellijay ER. Admission staff, nurses, respiratory tech, and doctor were skilled, efficient, and very caring. Good experience!

I cannot say enough nice things about this ER. I work as a vet tech and got bitten by a cat at work. I was sent to Urgent Care on Hefner Street originally, and after a 2.5 hour wait the doctor glance at the bite and prescribed some antibiotics. I saw the doctor for maybe 2 minutes. Within 24 hours of being on antibiotics my hand swelled, turned red and hot, and I had red streaks up my arm! Urgent Care was closed so I came to the ER- and thank God I did! They got me back within 5 mins of waiting, took blood to be sent out for cultures, got me on IV antibiotics and fluids- they did not take this lightly at all! They were aggressive in their treatment and everybody was amazing from the front desk, to the nurses, doctors, and phlebotomist. They even brought my kids coloring books, drinks, and snacks while they were there waiting for me to get done. I could not have asked for better care. Thank you Ellijay Piedmont ER!
