List of John Abell Md's Reviews
I’ve started seeing Dr Abell after 3 other doctors who couldn’t figure out why I was so sick. Keep putting me on antibiotics and I knew I had to find someone that could help me and fast. I started seeing Dr Abell 10 months ago and and I’ve gone from being ready to be hospitalized, from 159 severe symptoms and extreme pain to 29 this month & hardly any pain. I know I would not be here if it wasn’t for Dr Abell let alone doing so well. I thank God for Dr Abell every day!
I can’t believe we have a doctor like this locally! Dr. Abell is amazing. The one star review that says he “kept her sister doped up” is obviously blatant lies. Dr. Abell is functional medicine and that’s not how functional medicine doctors treat. The man is incredibly, incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell talking to him that he likely goes home every day an spends all evening researching and reading medical journals. Dr. Abell gives options for OTC natural supplements as well as prescription medicine. Any medication he has prescribed to me he has been able to explain thoroughly why, what it does, how it does it, and if there are side effects. Most of what he has prescribed to me has had no risks of side effects at all. He a doctor that truly cares about what he does and his patients. He is very attentive and makes you feel like you are a priority.
I have been a patient of Dr Abell’s for 11 years. He is the best in the business. He is an awesome
Terrible Doctor. Almost killed my sister, didn't help her just kept her doped up. Glad she found a doctor that will help her unlike Abell.
Dr. Abel is a brilliant doctor. He can almost diagnose you before getting test results. I like him because he is so unlike other doctors, he treat the problems and not use drugs to cover them up. If he prescribes any meds they are natural and work so much better than the synthetic drugs you get from the pharmaceutical companies. You would never go wrong in choosing Dr. Abel as your doctor. He has a different style but he is always on point.
Dr. Abell is one of the few brilliant physicians I have met. Interested in treating the disease or problem not just the symptom.
Dr. Abell goes beyond what any other Dr. has ever done for me. He really cares and researches everything. Always going to conferences and studying up on the latest medical information. I have been extremely pleased with him and hope he stays in Albany many years.
Dr Abell has been great. I have dieabeaties. His knowldge and skills are helping me to have a better quality of life, and better health. When you are seen by him you know that he cares about what he is doing as well as his pataints, He's not just addressing your symptons and processing you through the system. He goes beyond that. A rare thing in this day and time.
If you enjoy a physician who has done extensive research on health, nutrition, and anti-aging ---> this is the physician for you! If you aren't into that type of information, then don't waste your time. I'm THANKFUL to find him!
Dr. Abell has a tendency to diagnose and pescribe without examination. In over 2 years he never listened to my chest, checked my ears, etc. I think he does a good enough job but always felt that he was doing a half way job since he never examined me. I had to ask for and remind him of need to have mammogram, etc. He never really read my voluminous medical records when I initially went in, simply leafed through the over 300 pages and handed them back to me. He is a major advocate of holistic remedies and for some that may work, but I switched to a more conventional doctor and am doing much better.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
