List of Stephen D. Skjei's Reviews
If there was a no star rating that is what I would give here. This doctor will not renew my sisters prescription for her sensor until she sees him again. She already has Macular degeneration because of her diabetes. The sensor is NOT a drug or controlled substance but something that reads her sugar levels. How is she supposed to monitor her sugar levels without this device. Talk about not caring about your patients and just the money you can get from an appointment. She was told to get on an insulin pump because the blood is pooling in the back of her eyes. This office has not done what needed to be done in a timely manner to make this happen, the screw ups are too numerous to list here. I am putting this review up in hopes of getting some action behind this so she does not have to find ANOTHER doctor. She has even asked for the owner of the group to give her a call. Please reach out to me so maybe we can get this resolved for her.
I was very sad to hear that Dr. Skjei was moving to Atlanta. I have had such a good experience with him as my endocrinologist. He listens well explains thoroughly and though I saw him for thyroid management he always paid attention to my whole health in providing care.
Dr. Skjei is a wonderful doctor. He has always been so caring and has gone beyond for my heath. I was so sad to learn he is moving out of state, and will be missed greatly. He's the BEST!
I've been a patient of Dr, Skjei's for many years and can confidently say that my course of treatment for my type II diabetes has been spot-on. My visits with him are thorough while he occasionally orders Quest labwork, located right outside his offices in Wheaton. During my last visit with him, he mentioned that he & his practice will be moving to Atlanta soon. He will be missed and I wish him well in his new office!
Heard good things from other Type 2 diabetics with high A1C. I have a low A1C because of tight food control but I have other metabolic symptoms like tiredness and tingling/pain in arm/feet after eating. He basically dismissed me these are nothing metabolic related, which beats me. If I get tired after lunch, wouldn't that be metabolism related? He looked at me like I'm an idiot. I guess these doctors are just good for pushing insulin and other meds into the bodies of diabetics. They are no good for anything else like helping you make nutritional or lifestyle changes. They just go by numbers and not by the symptoms the patients are reporting. Pathetic state of health care system.
Dr. Skjei has been my endocrinologist for the past 10ish years, and I trust him implicitly. He has carefully monitored and explained my various thyroid/parathyroid conditions, and is patient and personable. Highly recommend! Sadly, we have moved out of state and I am searching for a doctor of his caliber in our new state, although I've considered just returning to the Chicago area twice a year for my visits instead.
I have been going to Dr. Skjei for 6 years now. He is very professional and listens to my concerns and any questions that I have. I truly enjoy seeing Dr. Skjei I alway feel good after my visits. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Skjei!!
After 7 years of feeling like every visit was an exercise of "just going through the motions" I am finished with Dr. Skjei. Right up there in terms of getting a low rating is his lateness. 90% of the time in the last 7 years I was see at least 20 minutes later than my appointment time. Yesterday it was an hour. The staff is not friendly either, and they do not offer any groups or dieticians. Nice guy, but never seemed to really care much.
nursing staff does not return calls ever. Location(1) is a nightmare to drive to from anywhere. Also nurses will screen any and all messages left for Dr. Skjei. Supposed to be a doctor patient relationship.Want to speak just with him no can do. Will not recommend Dr. Skjei because of his nursing staff. What a shame that they lose business for you. Maybe you just dont whats going on in the office. I am not sorry I met you but I am glad I dont have to deal with your staff. They stink!
Dr. Sjkei is the best!! He's friendly, caring, and takes his time. If you need an Endo please go to him. You won't regret it.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
