Dr nelson did great as far as treatment. His office manager refused two appointments for followup with him because I wasnt “his patient” since he treated me for emergency treatment. The second “emergency” would not have occurred if I was rechecked in a timely manner instead of being refused treatment. The last refusal was the last straw. I DO NOT recommend him. He is very rude along with most of the staff. He was seeing my micro preemie and continued to say her eye would be mature next time, her eye would be mature next time. We knew nothing was wrong with her and chose to not take her back and out her through another invasive eye exam and he called DCFS on us opening a case of medical neglect. Absolutely absurd!! I went in to get her chart to take to a new doctor and the staff was questioning why we were switching to a dr so far away and when I emplaned her response was “yeah they do that”. Like called DCFS on families is normal around there. Not to mention you will spend hours there because he’s so slow!

Dr. Nelson saved my vision. When I went to see him, I was blind in my rt. eye from AMD and I had a detached retna in the left eye. He operated repairing the left eye. I now have 20:50 vision. In addition he is a true gentleman and personable. His staff is considerate and nice.

Saw Dr. Nelson about vitreous detachment. He did a thorough exam and explained how it happened and what could happen in the future in a simple way. Very professional and knowledgeable.

Have seen Dr Nelson several times, once a Sunday emergency! He is very knowledgeable and matter of fact. I like that!

Go to him if you want a condescending, non caring, speaks to you like your ignorant, type of doctor. You've been warned!!

While Dr. Nelson's bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired, he is a top-notch surgeon, one of the best in the field. For me, he repaired two torn and detached retinas; one in each eye. I couldn't be more pleased with the results, and I'm grateful for his extensive training, experience, and expertise. I think part of his challenge results from just how busy he is, but if you tell him you have questions, he's willing to listen and answer...even if the answers are pretty quick.
