List of Thomas Eye Group's Reviews
I only used this eye group because my regular eye dr., Dr. Miller's practice was taken over by this group. I needed a specialist to look at my eyes for cataracts and so he referred me to Dr. Sackel in the Thomas Eye Group. I knew NO better. Went for my first appt. and from there on, it has been one disaster and misspoken word after another . . . .just one upset after another.I was told I needed cataract surgery so my anxiety level is already heightened. I speak with the dr. about the surgery and he's okay. He spills out a bunch of information . . . nothing about total costs of the procedures and says to book an appt. for measurements and then surgeries (both eyes).I was directed to Emily. The first appt. for measurements got changed because something came up with the dr. The second appt. I went to the wrong location because I was never told that I was supposed to go to the Barfield location. I was so, so mad because I had taken off from work and driven through a lot of traffic to make this appt. No one cared. They acted as if they knew someone in their office had notified me and I got it all wrong. Like I would knowingly go to the wrong location!!!Move on from that disaster to the day of my measurements again in the right location. I was told my appt. was @ 10:00 but somehow the text message I was getting from the dr. offices was indicating that it was 9:30. I call to inquire that morning and they say that I have 2 different appts. I was there from 9:30 until 11:45. Had to wait to see the dr. for 45 minutes. The girl Emily who had been scheduling my appts. did not meet me that day; however, there was another girl now. She not only had the dates of the surgery incorrect but also the pricing!!!!! They had gone up in one month's time and it was not the price the dr. had quoted me.My prescription that you take 3 days prior to surgery got messed up at the pharmacy due a mistake that the doctor's office made and I had to try and get it corrected. I basically had to tell the doctor's office what they needed to do!I am NOT impressed by anyone in either of these offices. It is like a shop where they are just processing people. I hate it. If I could cancel my surgery right now (after paying ALL the extra costs that THEY DO NOT GO OVER WITH YOU) I would! I am sick about my decision to go with this group.Even the billing got messed up. They were supposed to call me prior to my surgery but said something happened with their system and called me a week after. Then harassed me for payment!I thought I looked at the reviews before making my first appt. but I must have looked at something else. The reviews here are very much in alignment with how I feel and wish I had read these reviews before proceeding on!So, I had my first cataract surgery on July 6, the 2nd on July 20th. I was first told that I couldn't the two surgeries within one week of each other (which would have been much better for me) but I also was told that I wouldn't be able to hike with 2 weeks after the surgeries either. As it turns out, it really just depends on who you ask. As it turns out, you can most certainly have the two surgeries within a week of each other and you can start walking the day after your surgery per Dr. Sackel!!!!!In the operating room, I was just left eye. The dr. did not even greet me. The first surgery went fine though. The 2ndsurgery was held on July 20th and my left eye is still not right. It feels like a contact is in my eye and I need to take it out. It is very frustrating and it affects my life and my work!!!! I called the office to schedule a visit and was told that Dr. Sackel was out of town and did I want to make an appt. the following week. I told the lady on the phone that I needed to see a doctor to look at my eye as soon as possible so she made an appt. for that afternoon with another dr. I waited over an hour in the visitor waiting room which is very standard for this doctor's office. When the dr. arrived, it was none other than Dr. Sackel and he said he was not out of the office. This office can't seem to keep anything straight! I was actually looking forward to seeing a new dr. He looked at my eye and said everything was fine to just give it time! The other problem I experienced is no one told me what to do with my glasses/sunglasses after the first surgery. You still need to be able to see with the other eye. When asked, they told me to see the optical dept. to have a lens put it or that they could take out the lens in my glasses the morning of my surgery. This is something my husband could do while I was in surgery. They were the rudest bunch of people then and then again when I dealt with them with my sunglasses on my next visit. They were absolutely no help whatsoever!!!!! I just walked away from the guy at the optical dept.It is now August 17th, and my eye is the same!!!! I wrote a note to the doctor in my patient portal yesterday but have not heard back from anyone (truly NO big surprise there)!!!!
Totally trust and appreciate Dr. John Miller and his staff with my eye care needs. Dr. Miller stays updated on the latest technology to maintain your healthy eyesight while Debbie keeps the latest trends of eye wear selection available. Debbie and staff are also very patient while you search through their large selection and I'm a picky customer. :-) I wouldn't go anywhere else!
You gotta love these folks. Absolutely wonderful family. They have really looked out for me in terms of the best deals and making sure that I receive the best care. Doc is very knowledgeable and kind and I would recommend this oD to anyone.
This review is long overdue. My family has been seeing Dr. Miller for years. He is a phenomenal eye doctor... patient, kind, thorough and caring. His wife Debbie who helps us with our glasses has all the same qualities and is amazing with children. My son loves her and she is so patient with and kind to him. This is one of the rare good healthcare facilities that remain, I recommend them to anyone with no hesitation but especially to families with children.
What an absolute pleasure to have found Dr. Miller! I was hoping to find an optometrist close to my home and he is literally right down the street. His wife, Debbie, was running the front and she was incredibly sweet. Dr. miller was very thorough and patiently explained every procedure to me as he was conducting my eye exam. In a world where personal service and care seems to be fading it is a rare find to find a doctor who cares. Highly recommend this gentleman!
I was instantly at ease with Dr. Miller. He was extremely kind and was willing to take the time to discuss my eyes and their health. I was anxious as I had a migraine aura the day before. He was calm and knew I was nervous. I have already recommended this practice me I will be going back very soon.
I cannot say enough amazing things about this office. Doctor Miller was great but his staff is truly caring and amazing. I lost a pair of glasses that I purchased there and the frames were on back order with a long wait time and Kathy and Deborah hounded the Ray Band rep to get my glasses ASAP.They are meticulous and wonderful.
Dr. John Miller has been our families optometrist for 30 years. He is very thorough in his examination. He has a most gentle manner in interacting with his patients. I would recommend Dr. John Miller to anyone that needed good eye care.
Great visit! Everyone was very nice and professional.
This is my second year coming to see Dr Miller for my annual exam and to get my eye-glass prescription. I'd rather drive 50 mins to visit this Dr than someone near my home. He gives enough time to listen to my problems, answer my questions, provide advice, and of course do a thorough eye exam. Highly recommend this Dr to anyone who is seeking quality vision service.See you next year, Dr Miller.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
