List of Thomas Eye Group's Reviews
The Thomas Eye Group staff were extremely cordial and professional. I would recommend them to anyone seeking the best care for their eyes / vision.
This really is an eye BUSINESS - I tried to endure and focus on the end result, but my experience is that the group as a whole has money to make and the patient is something to be tolerated. I’m thinking they buy good reviews based on what I’ve experienced and witnessed there.
The staff was wonderful but the over 2 hour wait time was unacceptable. Because of Covid restrictions, my husband waited in the car for what should have been a 40 minute appointment. I sat in the exam room without anyone checking on me for almost an hour. I honestly thought that they had forgotten about me. There are several other eye doctors closer to my home but we made the 45 minute drive to see Dr Heit because he came with strong personal recommendations. I will go back one more time because of him but if the wait time is not within a reasonable time limit, it will be the final visit. Standing in a 15 minute line to check out, I spoke with a woman who has been a patient there for many years. She said the wait time has always been excessive and she dreads her annual appointments for that reason. This tells me that my experience was not a fluke but a common business practice.
I stopped going to Thomas a group about 10 years ago because of the poor quality of service. Unfortunately, I had hoped they had improved since that time and went back again. Poor service. Slow response. Inaccurate information. Problems with the product. Poor fitting of lenses. The list is endless. I will never ever go to Thomas Eye again.
I was greeted as I walked in and guided towards to the check in kiosk. The self check in process was simple and the instructions were easy to follow. The office was clean & bright & there was ample seating to distance from other patients. The technician was sweet & professional while she completed her part of the exam. She explained what she was doing, step by step. Dr. Abril arrived shortly after to finish the rest of my exam. She was very thorough and also explained all the procedures to me. I always enjoy my visits to see Dr Abril. I feel that I get excellent care at Thomas Eye Group.
Waiting time can be a bit too much, but overall I like how Dr. Newman have treated my chronic dry eye.
Hate to do this because Dr Newman is wonderful!!! He is a great doctor & I wouldn’t want anyone else. But the front staff are not wonderful. They are either over scheduling or understaffed or do not have procedures in place to run appointments efficiently. I have been waiting 2 hours for my appointment...and am still waiting. (They first took me back for a routine eye exam which is not what I’m here for. The examiner told me this was the 3rd time today they had scheduled someone incorrectly for a routine checkup.)When I asked at the front about the long wait, the lady looked at me like why was I asking and said it should be any minute without actually checking anything or apologizing for the wait. I was 10 minutes late to my last appointment and was told they were running behind by about 30 minutes. I was called to the front where I was scolded and asked if I would like to reschedule my appointment. I said no, apologized for being late, & said I understood they were running behind. I was rudely told the office manager said I could either reschedule or wait 45 minutes. I waited. There is no excuse for a 2 hour wait. The lack of respect & simple courtesy of an apology & keeping me informed as to how much longer is inexcusable as well. The administrative side of the practice makes me want to not go back. But I will for Dr Newman!
I am a regular customer and extremely happy with Dr.Newman. Very pleasant and a very detailed oriented doctor . However, I am extremely disappointed with the optical department. When I changed my mind to go with different options and upgrade the frame and second set of glasses, the salesperson started yelling and said you can’t change your mind and wouldn’t honor my request. It was really an embarrassing situation and walked out and had to cancel my prescriptions. This happened just with this salesperson. Hope they find out that sales person and train not to yell at customers and be patient.I don’t think I would ever go to their optical department again.
Revised REVIEW... Staff is overwhelmed and understaffed. Billing depart/ insurance coordination should be replaced. I received an estimate of charges for eye surgery 4 hours prior to surgery.... unreal. Great doctors are the reason for anything above a 'zero star' ranking.
The wait times can almost be to much, but its the technician Gustavo Diaz that handles the fitting for contacts that is unlike any fitting for contacts I've ever received. I have the best fitting/seeing contacts Ive ever had in 30 years of wearing contacts. He's incredible! Highly recommend!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
