I have been a patient of Dr. Cortes for more than 25 years but today, today was the last time! I drove more than a hour for my appointment which was scheduled last August, I received email and text message confirmation of my appointment and even reregistered on line and paid my co-pay prior to my appointment. I arrived at 11:15 am for my 11:30 am appointment. I checked in with the front desk and they instructed me to have a seat. One hour later, I was still waiting in the waiting room and returned to the front desk to enquirer why I had not been called back yet. This is not the first time Dr. Cortes has been running behind, but I understand patient care. I wast told they would check with the nurse and someone should be up in three minutes to get me. I returned to the waiting area and a few minutes later, a lady at the front desk called me back up to the desk. She then informed me that Dr. Cortes was not in the office and would not be in until January, 2024. I was never notified by this medical group that my appointment was canceled. I ask for a refund of my co-pay and Ms. Inez, supervisor, stated she could not give me a refund. I informed her this was unacceptable and you have lost a patient! I had to take the day off work for this appointment and drove 70 miles to this office. This cost me more than $300 for the day and I received nothing. I would give this medical group a zero star rating but that is not an option! I will be sending Dr. Cortes and SouthCoast Medical Group a demand bill for my loss of income and reimbursement for my co-pay. What a wasted day!
