Dr. Richard W. Murphy Jr's Online Review Report Card

I have been a regular patient for about 10 yrs of Dr Richard Murphy and have just had my 3rd surgery on my deteriorating spine. I think he is the best Diagnostic surgeon around. I can just tell him what is bothering me and he will walk over and ask me is it right here, as, it just about puts me to the floor. He has great patience with me and all my questions. He's the Best !!!!!

Dr. Murphy operated on my father for a fractured disk. Several days later my father was transferred to a dementia care facility in another city. Dr. Murphy refused to send an order to have his stitches removed and his back x-rayed at the facility. He insisted he be transported back to Thomasville to have it done in his office which would have cost $485 to our family. Will now have to find another doctor to have stitches removed and back x-rayed. Very unprofessional behavior.

Dr. Murphy did a spinal procedure on my husband with amazing results. When we moved out of state and another specialist looked at my husband's MRI for a shoulder problem he stated he was amazed at the quality of the spinal work which he deemed equal to a good neurosurgeon.

Dr Murphy is great! He is really funny too. Wonderful bedside manner!!! I can’t recommend him enough!

Great Orthopedic surgeon. I have known him for years through mutual friends. He has performed back surgery and neck fusion surgery on me, Very caring and great bedside manner. Even when in pain he would make me laugh and smile.

You Only received 1 Star So I Could leave a Comment about One of the Most UN Professional Doctor's I Ever Met Never in 3/half Months Did this Man address me by my Name, His Care was by a Scale if it said 3 months you are supposed to be healed you did rehab out of here no matter what you told him,No Pain reliever Prescriptions for exstent of injury within Reason Tipical Doctor, Wants to look Great to Insurance Companies For the Use of His Services, He will Run you through his Office as if he is Slaughtering Hogs to Build a Reputation with Worker Comp Company's, You are at Risk of Possibility being Worse off in the Long Run than Better,Take Your Chances Russian Roulette has a Better Percentage and His Immature Bedside Manner is Aweful.

When I went in to Dr. Murphy's office in 2014, I couldn't walk without my walker, my left foot was numb and I could not lift it and I was in terrible lower back and leg pain. Six months earlier I was a hunter, a fisherman and an all around outdoor person until crippling stenosis took over my lower back. Dr Murphy gave me 3 options, therapy and/or pain management or surgery. I don't know what it is about Dr. Murphy but when he talks to you it is like you have been best friends your whole life. He talks to you, not at you. He has a sense of humor but is very serious and has "expert knowledge" about your condition and how to treat it. I choose surgery. When he went over the procedure he was confident and told me everything in easy to understand terms. When I came in for a office visit with my "Go Gators" shirt on that really lightened up our visit. I was apprehensive about back surgery but everything he told me was exactly how my surgery and recovery turned out. I woke up out of surgery literally "pain free". My left foot has the feeling back and is totally mobile again. I was walking within a week. As recommended after a year of letting my back heal I am hunting and fishing again and I am back to all of my outdoor activities. Unfortunately I am again able to do yard work. I recommend Dr Murphy very highly. He is the best at what he does. Thank you Dr Murphy!! (Go Dogs) Don Kelley (Go Gators)

He gets a ZERO! Rude and nasty attitude, walked out on my visit because he said he didn’t have 2 to 3 hours to answer my questions, I only had 4 about my surgery and was only there about 15 minutes! I left there in tears, I’m 67 and I had a right to ask questions about my surgery. This man does not need to be a doctor, he needs to go to one and get an attitude check up! Shameful, what a jerk!

I would give him a ZERO! He was terrible! I had 4 questions about surgery, after answering 2 and 15 minutes of discussion he started toward the door and I said I have just 2 more questions.....he literally yelled at me and said “I don’t have another 2 to 3 hours to answer your questions” then walked out!!!!!!! I was stunned, upset at this treatment, how DARE he treat ANY patient like this, OMG, I cried all the way home! I was shaking and angry, what a horrible Doctor! I’m 67 and have nobody so I needed to ask about specifics. What a unprofessional jerk! Needless to say that man will not be doing surgery on me, I found a new one. No doctor has EVER done this to me. He even talked bad about me in my medical record, complained about how I asked too many questions and belittled me like I was a weird person! What kind of doctor does this? I saw the true side of this man and to make an elderly person feel so bad is UNFORGIVABLE!!
