Dr. Deborah Cynthia Stokes - Reaching out to check on Mothers condition, (Jane Sinclair) I am out of state and need to make some plans..

Months ago I went with my adult son to meet her, she seemed caring and promised to write a letter for my son stating he is unable to work. My son has myotonic muscular dystrophy and has major restrictions that keep him from working. As time progressed he had nerve studies done and returned for several visits. His lawyer requested her to fill out paperwork describing his limitations for social security. She requested my son to come in to do it(2 hour drive).This delayed his hearing to make the appointment. Upon arrival she said she doesn’t fill out paperwork and to get it from his PT and OP. He was stunned as none had been ever ordered. He has had falls and requested script for cane. She said just go buy you one. I feel she is incompetent, milks appointment, and obviously isn’t truthful. I would not recommend her to any one. I will say her nurse is outstanding, to bad she isn’t the doctor as she has a much higher standard of professionalism than whom she works for.

My family is so very thankful for Dr. D. Stokes. My Mother had suffered for several years with unusual symptoms of "heavy feet" and increased dizziness. Fortunately we were referred to Dr. Stokes. When she saw my Mother, Dr. Stokes seemed to know exactly what Mother's problem was. She realized that my Mother was suffering from Parkinson's disease.Dr. Stokes management and care has been second to none. The quality of my Mother's life has been greatly improved. Thank you so very much Dr. Stokes! Her staff is excellent as well. Very caring.

A doctor, really? She finally listened to our plea to recommend a neurosurgeon, by which time the brain tumor had grown to a grapefruit size. Even the neurosurgeon was astounded that this doctor waited so long. What could have been simple gamma knife outpatient surgery turned into a four hour surgery to remove the tumor. Buyer beware!

Dr. Stokes was not a good dr to me at all. I was referred by a dr to another dr there in the building where she works but that dr was booked up so they said they would just make me an appointment with her. I was having head pains I’m not going to say headaches or migraines cause my head hurts all day and every day and in different spots most of the time...so I don’t know what it is...but doctors say migraines. But when I saw her she didn’t know what to do for me...she gave me some muscle relaxers and some pill that was for a different type of headache and not for migraines...and I saw her about four to five times and each time she just would refill those two medicines which each time I went I told her that they wasn’t working...but she just said there wasn’t anything that she could do for me and that was my last visit with her... I was about to stop going to her anyways cause she wasn’t doing anything for me that was working and just saying and doing the same thing...but going to have the nerve to tell me if I need her just call and make an appointment lol why would I call you again for when you can’t do anything for me just so you can tell get paid for nothing and I’m still in pain...and come to find out my friend was going to her too...for her migraines and she just gave her muscle relaxers too...so I said well dang it that all she gives her patients? She just was a waste of time and a disappointment to me. I will never go back to her under any circumstances.

I liked her testing and evaluation of my need for an EEG.

She doesn't try to help you at all. Her nurse have to do everything for her because she doesn't know how to used the computer. Don't even try to find alternative to help you with your problem.

Dr Stokes retired in 2013. I went to another neurologist for my MS. He immediately took me off the MS medications and ran some tests. I do NOT have MS. Since Dr. Stokes misdiagnosed with MS, she has refused to admit she made a mistake. The MS medications damaged my lungs, kidneys, teeth and gallbladder had to be removed. The medical group she was employed by has continued to bill me .

I struggled for decades, going to different doctors trying to find out what is wrong with me. She listened, asked questions and then ran several tests. she diagnosed me with relapse/remitting multiple sclerosis in 2011. She is a very caring person and very knowledgeable about ms.
