MIchael ALLEN Hellwege's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Hellwege has no bedside manner or professionalism. He made my loved one cry as well as demean her symptoms. She was referred to him by her general physician who has a theory of what is causing her ailment. When my mother told him this he dismissed it by saying there is no way he could know that without a procedure being performed. WHICH IS LITERALLY THE POINT OF MY MOTHERS CONSULTATION was to schedule the procedure that would determine the cause. Don't be a doctor if you are incapable of caring for your patients

Not the best communicator. Actually, quite unapproachable.

Dr. Hellwege is a stellar surgeon! He absolutely saved my life. He is the MD that you want if you are a person that doesn't need fluff. I too work in healthcare and appreciate honest and straight forward answers about everything from Diagnostics to Treatment to Prognosis. He's an extremely smart individual and has attention to detail. He implements careful and precise planning in his treatment and procedures. I have minimal scarring, He is a compassionate doctor and takes great pride in his work. He may come off initially as lacking in bedside manners however, that is not the case. what is being experienced is him being very caught into how to give the best treatment and options to save your life. once you understand that you'll appreciate his hard work and dedication. If you need excessive coddling, he may not be for you, but if you need the best with all options and treatment avenues visited/weighed for your benefit, he is your go to. I love him!

Front staff was really nice, however Dr Hellwege not so much! He lacked bedside manner and was rude. He did not listen to my concerns as a patient nor did he seem to care about them. Definitely would NOT recommend him for any medical procedures.

If you are going to service the elderly population, I think you should be sensitive to those who are hard of hearing. It's not that difficult to look directly at the patient and talk louder. Instead, Dr. Hellwege chose to treat my father (the patient) as if he was not even in the room when he would ask him to repeat something. To give one example, my father asked him to repeat a question about his heart medication. Instead of repeating himself, Dr. Hellwege just waved both his arms in the air and went on to discuss something else. I gently said, you can ask my father, you just need to speak louder and Dr. Hellwege responded poorly to this as well. I would like my father to have been treated with more dignity as a patient. It is hard enough for my father to admit when he needs repetition. Being treated as a nuisance by Dr. Hellwege does not help.

Definitely not rude busy and excellent

doesn’t give clear diagnoses, very very rude. Misdiagnosed the first time and still wasn’t clear the second go around. Yelled at my mom.

excellent no nonsense and accelerated all schedules to get colon cancer removed right away. felt it was a top priority to get surgery done without delay associated with holiday weekend

This surgeon was my Angel sent directly from God! He actually saw me with no insurance and it was not a factor at all with him rushing to save my life! He is so compassionate and educated. He took me apart and put me back together like it was a simple walk in the park. If your looking for a surgeon who is straight forward and has your best interest in mind... you have found him!! He is simply amazing!! Surgery was August 5th and I’m already close to normal. He was aggressive and he fixed me!!!!
