Had what should have been a routine colonoscopy today. I think the actual procedure went well from what I can remember but the prep did not go too well. I can’t say this is really the fault of anyone here at AGA but I ended up being stabbed FIVE times with an IV catheter before the procedure. The first attempt in right arm seemed fine until it apparently dislodged leaving a gushing pool of blood and a semi panic among the staff. Second attempt in my hand just below my index finger felt like I was being stabbed with screwdriver. I don’t have a low pain threshold but I said something didn’t feel right. They assured me that it was fine. It certainly didn’t feel fine and if it was inserted correctly I don’t think such discomfort would occur. I have a feeling the prep from the day prior left me dehydrated. Third attempt in left arm seemed to be successful and saline drip began. I was wheeled into the endoscopy room and the anesthesiologist began to inject the propofol & asked me if I was feeling sleepy. She seemed perplexed when I said No but did feel an intense burning pain in my arm. She said this was normal?Apparently the catheter blew out and anesthetic went right into the tissue in my arm. Semi panic ensured and I think this is about the closest I’ve felt to being scared to death. Fourth attempt back to the right arm initially seemed successful but no-go. I debated getting up and calling this off as a Fifth attempt to stab a vein did not seem to be a very good idea. They did their best to be calm and try to keep me calm but this was turning into a disaster. I closed my eyes and hoped for the best. After some panic searching for a good vein and local aesthetic they were able to successfully find a vein back on the left hand. I dozed off and woke up in recovery section. Thankful to have survived. I hope the propofol extravasation does not cause me any complications or lasting injury. You’d think I’d get a call to follow up on my well being ??? As of now I have a sore arm and hope everthing turns out ok. I’m not looking forward to doing one of these again anytime soon. One thing I would do differently is drink more water 4-5 hours before the procedure. Other than this, things seemed to be ok. Staff was pleasant but this place seems to be a mill / assembly line operation. Hard to give personal attention with dozens of patients coming through everyday. Maybe this is typical? I don’t have any reference to compare it to but I think they’re operating at maximum capacity here.
The doctors that I have seen here are OK. Dr. Rosenberg is good. Dr. Al-Awabdy is excellent. That being said, I will never go here again based solely on my experiences with their office over the years. Their office management is horrible when it comes to scheduling, billing, anything. E.g., calling me 1/2 business day before an endoscope appointment to confirm blood thinner status and try to work that out with another doctor's office before COB. Ended up having to reschedule the procedure, but I will be having it done elsewhere as this is not the first time this office has screwed things up like this. I'm tired of giving them the benefit of doubt just to avoid having to find a new practice.
I don’t think I will be back here for myself. I had a colonoscopy that came out normal but then had a diverticulitis attack a month later that didn’t come up as an issue on my results. Been back for a couple appointments where I don’t feel any care is given other than pills. Today I went for an early appointment and after being in the wait room close to 45 minutes I had to ask if I was being seen any time soon. My time is just as valuable as any of these caregivers as I am a full time professional as well. I plan my appointments early to be able to get back to work early. I get 10-20 minutes wait but not almost an hour past my appointment time, especially when there was nobody there when I arrived. I got a 5 minutes consultation and more pills. I was ordered a second lab I could have done on my first appointment so now I have to pay for labs again. The PA didn’t remember this was a follow up appointment so was treating it as if that was my first time. Will be looking for a new practice as I don’t find this very professional.
The office of dr Rosenberg MD has cancelled on me twice and gave no consideration when rescheduling both appointments times. i had to wait two more months for another appointment . Today I arrived 2 minutes past the allowed time because of Atlanta traffic. I called ahead to alert them I was running late, but since I did not get the operators name it was like the call never happened. They would not give me any consideration. The office waiting room was overcrowded and small there was at least 15 people waiting with no social distancing happening there. At least everyone was wearing masks. The front clerk asked me if I wanted to see a manager. I said no an had to schedule for late April. It is March 1st. Don't go to this office unless you want to be treated poorly. No breaks no favors from the staff when the office cancells on you.3.11.21 I came back on a return visit. The visit was fine and on time. The office flow seemed improved. There were few pt in waiting room, social distancing was implemented. I increased star fromone to four.
I had ct scan done for ongoing problems I've been having. They just called me today about results they've had for a month. I've been going since august and still never can get any answers. I called for 3 weeks with no call back. Finally went to GI specialists of Ga and they had my ct scan sent and had results within 10 minute. Take my advice don't go to atlanta GI they could care less about their patience.
Still in shock of abnormal biopsy results without being notifief. Only was I know is from pharmacy delivery of antibiotics (used to treat stomach infection. I've been treated for it in past and can't take as prescribed. I waited 12 days before I called to get results today is 19. this has caused so much stress I can't deal with it and I'm done calling and waiting for nothing!!! It's like I'm in a 3rd world. I'm sure we have great attorneys that Will call back. Thanks for letting me vent I feel some better
Met with the PA with my son. She was wonderful. Ordered 2 CT Scans locally. Done. First CT Scan was in early January, then another mid January. Called 3 times to get results, no call backs. Verified they had the correct phone number..Unprofessional office practice when it comes to customer service. The Gastroenterologist never followed up with us.Needless to say, we quickly found a better Gastroenterologist in Roswell.Their practice was not surprised by the service of Atl Gastroenterology. They hear about it all the time.Highly recommend NOT to use Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates.
This place is useless. They take forever to get back to you on scan results and then when they do, they act clueless when reading the radiologist notes. The doctor had to call the imaging place to get a further explanation, claiming the notes were too vague.Based off that, I honestly don’t know if the results of my tests were even accurate.I’m going to get a second opinion from a different practice.Don’t bother with these folks. I wish I had researched more before wasting time and money with them.
Horrible communication. Truly seem like they don’t care about patients. Will not be back.
Worst place ever. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Booked my appoint over 2 months ago. I get there and waited 30 mins and then asked far far behind Dr. T was and he was over 2 hours behind and that does not include the 30 minutes i already waited. While I appreciate the Dr. being thorough with his patience, the scheduler should account for this. I drove an hour for this appointment one way and could not wait the 2.5 hours and had to leave without being seen. I am very sick and now have find a place to go. VERY FRUSTRATING! Maybe they should pay my wages since I sat there! READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. MORE BAD NEWS!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
