List of Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates's Reviews
This is the story of my visit to and billing from Pediatric Orthopedic Associates:My child injured an ankle and we were referred to Pediatric Orthopedic Associates, Woodstock office. A practitioner, not a doctor, took two x-rays and determined there was no fracture. The injury was diagnosed as a "Growth Plate Fracture" or "Toddler's Fracture". They gave us a plastic/velcro boot to wear for three weeks. This was the entirety of the visit.I was shocked when I received the bill. Included below is the before insurance and after insurance fees. The after insurance fees are in parenthesis:- X-ray: $129 ($34.97)- X-ray: $116 ($31.96)- Consultation: $328 ($116.76)- Surgery: $1,319 ($592.20)- Plastic/Velcro Boot: $200 ($112.34)-TOTAL: $2,092 ($888.23)I was charged $888.23 for a practitioner, not a doctor, to tell me to wear a plastic boot for three weeks. Please notice that the above "Surgery Fee" was actually for the practitioner, not a doctor, to advise wearing of the boot. Absolutely no other services were rendered besides the practitioner physically handing us a plastic boot. At no point was I warned of any of these exorbitant fees nor was I warned that a $10.00 plastic ankle brace would cost $200.I do not recommend taking your child to this "business" unless you know for certain that your child is injured and a college scholarship weighs in the balance. This place is going to take you to the cleaners. You have been warned!
I took my son in for evaluation. The diagnosis was to go to a physical therapist. Instead, he did the packet of exercises that the doctor gave him… With no improvement. I called the office back to speak with the doctor and they told me I need to make another appointment in order to do so. Of course...more $$. It is really hard for me to believe that a patient is not allowed to speak to the Doctor Who provided service! I would never go here again because of this
Doctors and office staff were great. They have a unorganized billing group. I am still waiting on the refund check of an overpayment they received over four weeks ago.
My 7 year old shattered his arm. We were told he would need major surgery to fix it and I came here for a 2nd opinion. We've now been a patient for almost 5 months. This place is awesome
My son is currently under the care of Dr. Schulenborg for a broken arm. We've had 2 visits so far, and they both have been good experiences. Dr. Schulenborg is very attentive, listened, answered all of our questions and has a great bedside manner. I was so impressed that I actually made an appointment for my daughter to be consulted for another chronic Ortho issue. I imagine that her appointment will go great as well. We were seen in the Woodstock office and everyone was very friendly. We also had to drive to the Barrett location (for a cast) and the Windy Hill location (for a splint.) I will say that the Barrett location was a bit busy and we had to wait awhile, but the staff was friendly and very apologetic. The Windy Hill location is a bit hard to find, and the staff that assisted my son with his cast seemed a bit rushed but I assume that is because they had to work my son in and perhaps had a full schedule (they did not have the brace that my son needed at the Woodstock location.) All in all though, I am very glad that we chose this practice for my son's care.
If I could give this location zero stars I would. I am writing this review to let parents, mothers, fathers, anyone know to not go to this location or any other branch of this healthcare organization. They are a scam and want to charge the highest prices to get money out of your pockets. My son broke his arm and his doctor reffered this location for his cast to be set. My insurance company assured me everything would be covered but Tracy, the lady who works in billing, kept trying to push charge after charge. She even said racist remarks to the representative of my insurance company. Finally, they agreed all the charge is covered. Then after 4 weeks when the cast had to be taken off, they gave me a bill of $1,500 for the removal of the cast. They said they would not take it off until it was paid. My poor son had been lagging his arm, unable to play sports, compete in competitions, write or do anything with his right arm. He was so happy to take his cast off. This money hungry healthcare organization needs to be ashamed. I have health insurance for these situations but they want more money out of my pockets. They are racist, rude, liars and immoral beings. They should not be allowed to operate.
We arrived 10 minutes late for an 11:45 appt., our first visit at this location. The receptionist's first response was not a greeting but, "You are 'very' late." emphasis on very, 10 minutes, really? I said "O.K.", taken aback. We were the only ones in the office. The second thing she said was that we have to reschedule for 2pm. I asked why and she stated that the paperwork takes 20 min. I just filled it out online for a different location, it took less than 5, what? The receptionist then looked at her computer and did not engage with us again, no greeting and no good-bye, see you at 2pm. I'm thinking - are we settled here? The exchange felt a bit "twilight zone" and definitely not professional. So my daughter and I left. We cannot evaluate the Dr., we did not see the Dr. I don't want to have another experience like that with the receptionist, I wonder if the Dr. was even there. They could have taken us back while I filled out the 5 minutes of paperwork, doesn't seem like an efficient office, knowing the cost of a lost patient.I tried to call ahead, when we were confused about the location, I could not find a medical directory confirming I was in the right building, which would have been helpful. Additionally, there is only one central phone number, you cannot contact each location directly, so as there was a high call volume, no one was able to help me confirm the location. I was waiting on the phone from the car, to the elevator, until I walked into the their 4th floor office and hung up, so a few minutes.
Excellent care, never had to wait long by using online check-in.
Dr. Schlunenborg was very thorough and listened to all our concerns. He addressed every need and went above and beyond our expectations. He was the first doctor we have had in several years who actually took the time to sit down with us and listen to us. All the office staff were very helpful, polite and professional. Highly recommend this facility.
My five year started to have pain in his hip. His pediatrician sent us to this place. We got an appointment very quickly. Within a day or two. We have only had two appointments so far and both times were afternoon appointments and the waiting room was comfortable with no wait for us. Once in the exam room the Dr was in within a few minutes and we saw both Dr. Shibley and Dr. Shirley and both are very kind and patient with my five year old. I feel they are doing enough looking into my sons issues and they didn't just brush it off as " growing pains." They wanted to rule out anything serious. Also i forget her name but the lady at the front desk is super super sweet and helpful in scheduling our next appointments! This is the Woodstock location.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
