After further research of incidence that occurred when my family and I lived in mililani Hawaii, his negligence towards my grandparents are unforgivable.
Goes above and beyond. Amazing quality of care for my disabled mother Great solutions and big heart
I would recommend this doctor. His insights into adrenal issues and how they relate to mental health are phenomenal. I am reading one of his books and he has confirmed many longtime suspicions that I have held regarding anti-depressants....they further aggravate the problem of depression and its root causes and they can promote colitis or intestinal imbalances. I was on an anti-depressant for fourteen years and I now have colitis symptoms which I am treating naturally. If you are looking for a standard, run-of-the-mill physician, Dr. Lam is not for you. However, if you are seeking help from someone who has progressed further than most drug-prescribing practitioners of conventional medicine, then Dr. Lam might be a real blessing.
I recommend seeing Dr. Lam if you're looking for a doctor that goes beyond basic health care. He takes the time to listen and isn't quick to diagnose anything with limited information. He's thorough and always orders blood work and tests, if necessary. He has a great personality and his ethics are second to none. Some of these other "self-prescriber" reviewers that are upset because he wouldn't give them what they asked for... it's common sense people. It's a doctor's office, not a Burger King. Especially with the opioid crisis/abuse we see in today's society, it makes for an even stronger case that Dr. Lam is doing his due diligence and not just writing scripts. He's an honest guy to a fault, so yes, the truth hurts sometimes, but that's what I expect from my doctor. He's the first doctor to help me focus on my preventative health and get me off my medication, which is intended to be temporary anyway! He reminded me of that, and I'm very grateful! So, I never write reviews. In fact, I was just on Yelp to find the office number to schedule an appointment. But when I saw his rating, which isn't a true reflection of his practice, I was compelled to write one. I hope this helps anyone looking for a ethical practice with a great staff and a caring doc.
Beware of this idiot, do not go to him, can't even refill a prescription that he wrote out months ago, told me to go elsewhere, I'm diabetic and he won't fill out a sensor for my device?
I'm not sure what's wrong with the other reviews. Dr LAM is caring and upbeat how can you say he's overly friendly? I don't particularly care for a Dr with rude bedside manner. He's very upfront about everything and if that makes him rude or overly friendly then he isn't the dr for you! I don't think I'll have anything bad to say about his staff or him by the way shout to to his assistant Shantel she's a superstar!! I've been seeing Dr LAM about 3 yrs and in one of those years he saved my life. Yea he ordered blood work and it's based upon what you tell me is going on and what his diagnosis is. Blood work is to confirm or deny and guess what if you don't like the results and his methods on how to treat it he's not the Dr for you. I will forever be grateful for Dr LAM. I went from having a dr who almost killed me to a Dr who cares about my well being GENUINELY. Btw he also cares for his staff just as much as he does his patients. It really burns me up to read the negativity about a great man!!! I hope you all stay blessed holding everyone in prayers for good health!
My fiancé and I have been seeing Dr. Lam for over two years. It's unfortunate to read all these lower rated reviews as we've both had great experiences with Dr. Lam. He truly cares about your welfare versus other doctors who just prescribe you anything to get you on your way. He may be a younger doctor, but that doesn't make him inexperienced. If anything, we find him more innovative and refreshing than some other doctors who are set in their ways. His medical assistant Chantelle is always wonderful to us as well. We both feel definitely welcomed and cared for whenever we go to his office. Thank you Dr. Lam for always looking out for us and our best interests.
Today I went to see Dr. Lam for a new patient visit because my last doctor at Straub is no longer employed by Straub and I was referred to Dr. Lam. Dr michael lam office couldn't take me in untill six months to schedule my appointment for a new patient. I waited 6 months and When I went to see Dr. Lam I asked him for some anxiety pills That my previous doctor at Straub prescribed me about once every eight months when I needed it. Dr. Lam looked it up in the records and seen that I do get prescribed the medication every eight months to one year. As a new doctor that I am paying to service me, he took it upon himself to make a decision to not give me my anxiety medication and I asked him why. He told me that he doesn't that think I needed it and refused to prescribe the medication. So at that point I told him then why do I need to see you if you can't and are not willing to give me my prescription medicine and that I'm not asking for any unordinary out of the blues medication. I also told him that I'm not askingfor a prescription that is out of the ordinary and that it's been prescribed to me for the last eight years. he couldn't answer me. So after our disagreement and conversation Dr. Lam told me that he doesn't think our relationship started off on the right track and he doesn't feel that he wants to continue to be my doctor. So that's when I told the doctor that I feel the same way and I do not want a new doctor that iIs not concerned about my health and issues. I left his office. He's a young boy and he's very inexperienced and I wouldn't recommend trusting your health and body with Dr. Michael Lam.
Can't rate him either very low or high. Has an overly friendly manner that some people probably appreciate but I found pretty irritating, especially since none of my problems ever seemed to get resolved during my (very brief) visits. Like every other doctor I've had, constantly screwed up my prescriptions. I felt like the Straub system in general served more to refer people to get more work done at Straub providers rather than to actually resolve their health problems.
Office staff was super nice about getting me an appointment the same day even though I was a new patient. Dr. Lam answered all my questions and made me feel like he really cared!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
