Skilled surgeon, compassionate human being. The way Dr. Perreira took time to explain the procedure, the risks involved as well as the benefits set my mind at ease. I was given a choice of occupational therapists for hand rehab post-op. They were closer to my home and didn’t see a lot of Dr. Perreira’s patients but saw a lot of other hand surgeons patients. They were very impressed with the quality of the surgery. When my dressing was removed for the first time by the therapist, she commented on how clean the incision was and the absence of any strike-through bleeding. I’m so happy that Dr. Perreira did my surgery.

I had elective surgery to remove two ganglion cysts and my hand is now handicapped for life. Rather than just remove my two ganglion cysts as per my signed consent form, she operated on all of my tendons and overly tightened them to such an extent as to severely affect my free range of motion and cause chronic pain. It was suppose to be a ten minute procedure but she operated for almost an hour. She did not have my authorization to do this, I did not agree to her operating on all my tendons either orally or in writing. Instead, she performed this while I was asleep. She did not know about the severity of my hand condition prior to her surgery because she neglected to order a MRI, X-ray, or sonogram. Instead she operated blindly without any of these tests being done prior to my surgery. Had she done these tests she would have known what was going on inside my hand. She then could have conducted the surgery correctly since she would have had the correct information. These are all standard tests that should have been done prior to my surgery. Because of her negligence I am now left with a disfigured and disabled hand. Do not allow this “doctor” to operate on you unless you want to become permanently disabled!

Rather than just remove the two cysts, she operated on all my tendons and overly tightened them to such an extent as to affect my hand movements from front to back and side to side. This was suppose to be a 10 minute procedure but it lasted almost an hour. If Dr. Perrierra had done a pre surgery MRI, sonogram, or X-ray she would have know the severity of my hand issues before she operated and been able to plan her surgery better.

Dr. Perreira ruined my hand for life. She didn’t order an X-ray, ultrasound, or MRI prior to my surgery and operated totally unprepared. It was suppose to be a ten minute surgery that ended up being almost an hour. I only signed the consent form for her to remove two ganglion cysts and instead she operated on all of the tendons in my hand and overly tightened them to such a degree that I now have very limited range of motion. We had several follow up visits after the surgery and at the last one she told me there was nothing more she could do for me, that another surgery to correct the damage she did to my hand, was not an option. She then said she was going to refer me to a hand therapist, but she never even sent this “referral” in! Do NOT trust or have Dr.Perrierra operate on you or you might end up like me - with a permanently disabled hand!

Dr Perreira is calm, confident, and an excellent surgeon who listens well and is able to explain her treatment plans in a clear straightforward way. She responded to the late night ER call even when not on call, arranged for an emergency admission, talked over plans with the hospitalist and went out of her way to make sure I understood what the change in plan was and how she expected surgery to resolve my issue. She shows up to do rounds in hospital on time. She is amazing, both kind and very professional. I feel very lucky to have had her as my surgeon, it is a privilege to be her patient. She has full stars.
