List of Carlton KC Yuen's Reviews
I've been near sighted nearly all of my life and as I have gotten older, the cataracts in both of my eyes had reached a point where I couldn't read the road signs when driving, especially at night and my vision on one eye was best corrected only to 20/200 which is considered legally blind. After an extensive search I had Dr. Carlton Yuen perform cataract surgeries to both of my eyes. Now I have 20/20 distant vision and 20/30 reading vision! I can see crystal clear. I have no need for any glasses. It's truly amazing. Dr. Yuen is an incredible doctor and surgeon. He and his staff examined, tested, records, retested, re-examined, and double checked everything to insure I had the absolute best results from my surgeries. Dr. Yuen analyzes everything like a head football coach laying out every little detail of a treatment plan to squeeze every bit of vision I can get near and far. He considered the use of every manufacturer of lens, every type of lens, the condition of my retina and other conditions along with the benefits of laser surgery to place the new lens and to reshape my cornea to eliminate any astigmatism so that I can achieve the best vision for my particular eyes. To say he is thorough is an extreme understatement!Dr. Yuen's staff was wonderful and they all follow Dr.Yuen's style and personality of being very caring, personable, very professional and very efficient. After my surgeries I had a very mild headache otherwise the entire process was totally painless and I had no discomfort at all! My follow up care was just as detailed and thorough as my pre-surgery workup and surgery. I truly felt I received the absolute best surgery and treatment from Dr. Yuen and his staff. Everyone at one point in their lives will need to have cataract surgeries. I can unequivocally recommend Dr. Carlton Yuen to perform your cataract surgeries. When it comes to our eyes and our vision, why would one trust just any ophthalmologist to perform surgery when one can have an exceptional, ultra experienced, extremely thorough and caring ophthalmologist and surgeon like Dr. Yuen to take great care of you.
Too bad. He's a good, knowledgeable doctor, but too busy. Always feel rushed when I'm there, like I don't seem to matter cause he has another patient. Maybe too much student loans to pay back or too many offices to manage.
I had doctor Yuen do the blepharoplasty and repair lower eyelid surgery in 2019 because my eyelids were drooping and to remove the fat under the eye which insurance didn't cover. Last year (2021) my upper lid began to droop again and the lower lids puffy. No guaranty to last more than couple years and out $$$. He was pleasant all 5 minutes of his time at my appointments.
I have been seeing Dr. Yuen for almost 2 years. I decided to have some glasses made by his office. It took 2 months to get them back and they had the wrong prescription and the wrong frame. The office manager tried to talk me into taking them anyway. Why would I? I am still waiting for them to refund my HMSA health account for over $200. Its been 5 months I can't get a prescription anywhere else. Do not get glasses here! So disappointed. The office manager Alan never returned any of my 7 calls.
Thank you so much! I traveled from CA and forgot my contact lenses. Alan took care of me right away and blessed me with 5 days of lenses that were my exactly fitted to my prescription. Everyone here is nice and welcoming. I feel like I'm starting my trip off the right away!
i would not go to this doctor nor recommend him to anyone. I felt vaguely uncomfortable at my first meeting with him but dismissed it. I went back again for an exam because my first one had expired. While scheduling cataract surgery he told me how " lucky" i was since i waited as now i was going to get ( never asked if i wanted it) a new lens made by Johnson and Johnson and there would be no extra charge because J&J didn't know what to charge for it. Yea, right. He expounded on the fact he was the first in the northern hemisphere to insert said lens, so i was really lucky. I know these surgeries are done by the thousands with no complications so i was confused as to what he was bragging about. Then, I was required to sign a release of liability for this new lens and get tested for covid at a time when few were getting tested. I knew J&J has a rap sheet that would send most people to jail for life if not the death penalty. I took whatever forms i had signed and got my medical records from the office, and promptly left. I feel strongly he was going to use me as a guinea pig for J&J and an ego boost for him self. I found a wonderful doctor that did not require i sign a release of liability nor get tested.
I just had my first visit on my my journey toward cataract surgery. I know it is a common surgery but but I was a bit fearful. the staff was actually fun! They took me right away and I went seamlessly from one test to another. Dr. Yuen saw me last. I was very reassured of his expertise and lest more calm that I entered. You can’t not like a guy that says “ I did this implant on my own mother,” Next visit I watch videos about the implant choices to further inform me. Which is great because there are different ones. I will watch it -but go with what he suggests for someone with my vision. I trust him and I only had one visit so far!
Dr. Yuen did a great job on my exam. His office staff is very efficient. They seem to be cleaning and disinfecting constantly. I noticed a huge difference in the waiting room as it is incredibly spaced out and I was a large distance from anyone else in the waiting room. They had hand sanitizer out for our convenience. Also make sure you wear a mask. They have signs all over to let you know that they are required. Dr. Yuen's mother has made and donated thousands of masks to the public to keep them safe during this pandemic. In fact I was lucky enough to be given a reusable mask as a gift from Dr. Yuen's mother. It is the most comfortable mask. It creates a great seal and I can wear it all day long. What is even more I really appreciated that Dr. Yuen opened the door for me on the way out so I wouldn't have to touch the door handle. I wanted to thank him but he rushed off to wash his hands. I highly recommend Dr. Yuen and Aloha Vision Consultants.
The office is run very efficiently. The staff have the waiting room very well spaced out. They are even running air filters. I felt they were taking sanitation very carefully and keeping disinfecting rooms carefully between patients. I felt very safe coming to the office for my examination and felt they were very being very respectful of my time. I was really worried about my vision getting progressively worse and was very concerned that I was developing a cataract. However after my examination I was elated that my cataracts were not yet ready for surgery and I could pass my driver's test. Boy what a relief.
This was my first office visit. I felt the doctor was not personal and turnover of patients was more important than spending time to explain the condition of my vision and wellness of my eyes. While waiting in examination room, I was referred to as a room number. In the past, my annual eye exams have been completed in one visit. Dr. Yuen had me return for a second visit, not clearly explaining the reason for a return. His services cost double the amount of what I normally would pay for an annual eye exam. I don't feel his concern for my care is sincere. The trial lenses given were incorrect. I needed to return to his office to get an exchange. I will not be returning.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
