I had a kidney removal surgery with this doctor in May. He told me that the surgery was about removing all the stones in my ureter and both kidneys. It’s a big and urgent surgery! After surgery, He told me and my husband that he removed all the stones but the one which in deep side of my kidney (I don’t know what it means, but ok) . Two months later, after my following up checking, guess what… my ultrasound results shows that I still have all my stones on my both kidneys (11mm, 8mm, 8mm 3mm 4mm…), the only one disappearing was the one stocked in my ureter ( the endoscopy must go through my ureter to reaching into my kidneys) I asked doctor that ‘you told me that have removed all my stones but one on the deep side of my kidney, why are there still many stones in my both kidneys?’ He said ‘I mean that I broke down all the stones and took out as much as I can, I didn’t say that I take out all the stones… ‘ Then I asked if you just broke down all the stones, why there are still many big stones, much bigger than the one stocked into my ureter 6mm? Doctor said the ultrasound results size normally shows bigger than the actual size… no matter how I question it, he just pushed me to get more medication and go for next time blood check. He told me I probably need to eat one medicine all my life to prevent increasing more stone. Right after my video appointment with his presentation, I even not get my medicine yet, his assistant already pushed me for blood check appointment, very mean and pushy! Why? This is a surgery failure, but they just take advantage of me. Why?
When I first got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes back in 1993, I was seen by Dr. Singer. I am still under his care now. He is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful, too.
Had a virtual office visit with Dr Chou. He was very informative and explained all aspects of my condition very thoroughly. Gave me several options to resolve my issue. Did not rush the visit and I felt quite comfortable with his demeanor. I would highly recommend him.
Thorough and pleasant.
I consider myself one of the most fortunate people when I was referred to Dr. David Chou. He has been my urologist for over 14 years. Dr. Chou has saved my life not once but twice. I've been a Stage 4 Kidney Cancer survivor for 14 years. I am also a beneficiary of Dr. Chou's professional and specialist surgical experience in saving my life on a ureteral injury as a result of an accidental laceration by another surgeon. I am very blessed to have been under the care of Dr. David Chou. He is very straight forward, a man with very little words, yet, informative, impactful and to the point. I always appreciate his care and concern for all my questions and comments. And he has an amazing and caring medical support staff. Thank you & Mahalo nui loa Dr. Chou for saving my life not once but twice! It has been a journey to remember.
I've been a regular patient of Dr Chou since mid-2017. I've found that he is very knowledgeable, straight forward, caring and friendly. I am so grateful to him and like to think that he has saved my life twice. I've had complete confidence in him performing two major cancer-related surgeries on me, and now I'm cancer-free. I still see him every six months for check-ups. He is one top-notch urologist in my book.
This doctor was completely useless and provided some of the worst healthcare I have ever received in my life. He said he would schedule me for a simple varicocele procedure (which any competent urologist could perform) they had me wait for WEEKS after he said he could complete the very simple routine procedure. After a couple weeks, the office said that Dr. Chou could not perform the procedure because its been over a decade since he's done the operation and he didn't feel comfortable! Not acceptable, he should be reported for negligence, if you can't do the surgery because you aren't competent as a doctor, then don't say that you can in the first place! Nightmare of an experience, go see a real doctor elsewhere if you have real problems.
Dr. Chou has been my Dr for 3 years and has got me through 2 emergency kidney stone events. One being on a Saturday. He met me in Queens West Hospital at 1:00 PM on a Saturday afternoon and by 6:00 PM I was up and about. Thank you Dr. Chou!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
