List of Donna Mah's Reviews
Dr. Mah is nice but I went in with my daughter for what was supposed to be a well baby check up and vaccination that turned into a short conversation and a request for labs to be drawn and was supposed to also get a scan. The referral for the scan never happened, I had to call and ask what happened with lab results, I had to call and ask what happened with the vaccination/well baby checkup, and I got a 79$ bill for the trouble with almost nothing accomplished. We we're forgotten.
Dr. Mah is the best pediatrician you can find in Honolulu. She's professional, caring, and listens to patients' needs. She's interested not only about the sickness you have, but takes the time to get to know the patients on a personal level. I feel very welcomed once I walk into the doctor's treatment room. My daughter and my son have been taken care of by Dr. Mah since birth. I could call her day/night and ask questions. She would address my concerns in the medical professional way. I have been in foreign countries and called to Dr. Mah and she responded to our questions right away. It's really a blessing to have a good pediatrician in town who you can rely on and talk to. And you know she truly cares about your child.
There's a gentleman who works at the front desk at Dr Mahs office who may be the most incompetent person I have ever dealt with. In my life. Be prepared to be wait forever, be lied to, and treated with total disrespect. If he's taking his orders from Dr. Mah, then all I can say is that her unprofessionalism is shameful. Go to a different doctor if you want you child's needs met.
Donna mah is a neutral doctor that doesn't really care for you and a doctor that doesn't want to let you go. Me and my sisters have been seeing her since we were switched over to Quest. Originally we had her mother she was a great doctor that was caring and nice and really told you what was wrong. She explained what was going on in our body and how it's working and what's causing all of these problems. When we switched to Donna Mah she wasn't as motivated and is one of those doctors that just says your sickness and prescribes you medicine to get rid of it. She doesn't explain much about it, and usually prescribes the same medicine aka "amoxicillin" which is for strep throat and bacteria but that's basically it. Since I'm and teenager, I have pretty bad skin. I asked for a dermatologist she declined saying " I want to see if I can prescribe you with some medication and if it's not working then I'll send you to one". Given that my acne is bad enough it has gotten worst because the medicine lasted for a month. A couple months go by and my skin needed professional help where I needed a dermatologist but she denied. I took initiative and had my parents call HMSA and switched my doctor. Thank god I don't have to here "What's goin on Kiddo!" & " I'll just prescribe you Amoxicillin!". On to a doctor that actually cares for my needs!
Dr Mah was my pediatrician & now my two daughters see her. Usually its easy to make an appointment. Her former receptionist is no longer there (even with her attitude, I still liked her and miss seeing her there). Dr mah is a good doctor, very gentle, doesn't rush us, & we all feel comfortable with her being their doctor. It helps when I've known dr mah since I was little and she is the only doctor I use to want to see.She has two medical assistants one who has been there for awhile and a newer one. I've already had a few bad experiences with the newer girl esp trying to get my oldest daughters medical records & make an appointment because she had to be seen. Maybe cause shes newer she doesnt know how to do certain things but thats ok everything does take time. But both are very friendly so as long as my kids are happy going, I'm okay too. Waiting room is nice sized, books for kids, magazines for parents, and toys as well to play with. They also have a small fish tank full of guppies! My youngest loves looking at the fish!!Her office is located in a nice building on king st. Parking is kind of a pain in the butt depending on what time you go. Its tight and I think its limited parking to how big the building is. Cash only if you go and there's always a parking lot man eyeing out the area.
My two daughters see Dr. Mah for a long time. The bad receptionist is gone. Now two nurses are helping Dr. Mah and one of them is also working as receptionist. All of them very nice. And Dr. Mah always give clear explanation for what is going on with my kids, and why using this or that medicine.
The receptionist is so rude and her work place is such a mess! I don't know how the doctor still makes her work there. One time I was waiting and I seen her yelling at another patient. I felt so bad because it was just a simple question and she just blew up. Also one time I ask her a question and she got mad at me, thinking she's smarter then me...even smarter then every one else. Lol. So bottom line, I switch and I still can't get my shot records. Telling me to wait because she so busy. I wonder who I can call if they don't give it to me....But the doctor is nice amd caring! But i just had to leave. Btw, if your looking for a clean / decent office...not here! Wheres OSHA when you need them !
My daughter always cough for a long while after she caught a cold. And this repeat every 2 or 3 months. The other doctor we used before always gave her antibiotics but that didn't help. We changed to Dr. Mah, and she didn't give her antibiotics. Instead, she gave her other medicine and instruct me thoroughly how to use the medicine. After I apply the medicine to my daughter as she told me my daughter now don't have that coughing after she caught a cold. It was just amazing. I feel so lucky that I change to Dr. Mah.
This 1 star go entirely to the receptionist because you'll always have to go through them first but for me to have gone to this place my entire life, (not by choice of course) I can not say that I've ever had an easy time talking to the receptionist. You can just ask a simple question but you'll always receive a wise or rude reply back and its so unreal that it could just ruin a persons day. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Mah she is super nice. She'll take good care of you but seriously good luck if you need something done by the receptionist. For example, I need my health clearance form to be filled out, but its been 2 weeks and The receptionist from this doctor keeps replying that its been sent or being sent and i don't see what takes so long and if she can't do a simple fax, I offered to come physically and pick up my records to take to my new doctor myself because its MY records, and she responds with a "nope, can't allow that" Get out of here. I just want everything transferred out now so I don't have to deal with it again. They need a new receptionist, but thats family so i guess its hard. I'm surprised no one else has complained.
Dr.Mah is a kind, caring, and professional physician. Highly recommended.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
