Helen Blaisdell-Brennan's Online Review Report Card

I submitted a webform explaining what services I was looking for. We emailed back and forth a few times scheduling an appointment and very clearly explaining why I was seeking treatment. We had a telehealth visit where I explain my life history and how those issues affected my life. To only have her tell me at the very end that she actually isn't taking patients with the issue I'm seeking treatment for, and then refers me to another Doctor, where i have to do the whole process again and she charged my insurance $330. I've asked multiple other doctors about her behavior and they were all confused.

I fully respect and understand that finding a mental health professional that is a good match is difficult, and that different professionals' styles suit different types of people. I think I had around 4-5 sessions with Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan during the summer of 2020. While this wasn't the case for all of my sessions, during one of them, she scolded my style of communication and called me "very needy" and "difficult to be friends with." For a college student in such a mentally unstable and vulnerable position during that time, the way she communicated this to me felt very harsh and disrespectful. Even though psychiatrists have the right to give patients candid feedback about their behavior, the way she said this to me--someone who was struggling with suicidality--felt extremely jarring. I left that appointment uncontrollably crying and decided to switch psychiatrists after that. I was disappointed by my experience, as I had also found glowing reviews on Yelp and Google. I don't want to disregard other people's positive experiences with her but also feel the need to be honest about my experience.

Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan is caring, knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. She is very thorough and thoughtful in her explanations and responses and sensitive to your concerns. Grateful to have a Dr. with her academic background, high level of care, and attention to detail.

Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan is a very caring doctor. She is attentive and thorough at what she does. She would take the time to listen to me and would always go above and beyond in making me feel comfortable. I highly recommend her!!

Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan is supportive, caring, and engaged. She is great at making you feel comfortable, especially if you have not seen a psychiatrist before. She remembers what's going on in your life and makes an effort to follow up. I also like that she wants you to be an active part in your own care, so she takes into strong consideration your feedback, symptoms and hesitation with any prescriptions. She also wants to think about your life holistically, rather than prescribing more than you need to easily "fix the problem." I'm grateful to have found a doctor that is knowledgable, caring, and treats me as a partner in my care! Mahalo Dr.!

Dr. Blaisdell is an empathetic, open, and honest Psychiatrist. She has ignited a desire in me to focus on getting healthy and strong; mentally, physically, and spiritually. Although it is stressful to unearth repressed emotions that are making me sick, I know it is a necessary part of the healing process. Dr. Blaisdell will work closely with you to determine the underlying root causes of what you are struggling with. I praise God for Dr. Blaisdell. She just wants what's best for you and can help you heal, but you have to be willing to put in the work yourself too.

I continue to be blessed by Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan's experience, compassion & knowledge. I highly recommend!!

Addendum review: I have known DR. Blaisdell-Brennan for 7 years and she is not one to make a fraudulent charge. At the end of our session she would mention my copay and ask me if i agree to it or not. There were times I was having financial difficulties and she would not let me pay my copay as a gesture in helping me out. She is very kind and always attentive to all my issues. She is a great psychiatrist to have very easy to talk to. I am forever grateful to her she helped me get tru my depression and anxiety. Each of us are going tru a difficult time let us not forget to be kind to one another. For people leaving hateful comments please remember - Life Is Like a Boomerang; Whatever You Throw Out There Will Always Return. Allen Weinstein
