Hong-Ru Chen's Online Review Report Card

I've been seeing Dr. Chen for several years and never had a bad experience. She is knowledgeable, straight forward and thorough and her staff is courteous. They have a strict and efficient appointment system, which I have no problem with as it's the same with my other doctors.

She is very kind, straight to the point, and educational. Anything I need to know about my check up/body, I can just ask her and she gives me the best options/information with my health in her best interest. I never feel rushed and I feel like I get the care I need. Thank you !

I had an abnormal Pap smear and Dr. Chen wanted to do a very invasive procedure. I asked her if there were other options because I was trying to get pregnant and didn’t want to have an increased risk of a miscarriage if I went through with her suggestion. She told me there was no other option. I went to get a second opinion and as it turns out, I did a second pap that showed it was no longer abnormal. When I went back to dr. Chen, she told me that the the other doctor didn’t do the pap correctly and that she still recommended the invasive procedure. When I told her that I didn’t want to do it, she told me that I could no longer be her patient.

Don’t go here. She’s rude, she doesn’t give you time to explain anything, she makes assumptions without listening. I read other bad reviews on her but I seen her before years ago so when I was in the market for a new OB I decided to look her up. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. She actually has a handful of bad reviews online that I did read but I went against my better judgement thinking she would be ok because I seen her before, I was wrong. If you want to feel like you are being dismissed and unheard as a patient go for it! If not... THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER DOCTORS to choose from. She was so rude and you can see she’s just in it for the money! You can tell the difference between doctors who really care about people and she’s not one of them.

Delivered my baby and despite her insistent observation that I appeared very depressed and needed help in the weeks post-partum, she refused to prescribe any antidepressants (said it wasn't her job- YES it IS!) and also did not refer me to anyone who would. I'm amazed I'm still alive. Made it through, no thanks to her. I had to scramble to get care while dealing with a newborn. Thanks for nothing doc.

I really like Dr. CHEN. She is very kind and knowledgeable. I feel really comfortable with her and her staff is great as well.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Hong-Ru Chen today during my first visit to confirm my pregnancy. She not only asked me very personal questions about my current relationship she casted judgement when it was not asked. I have been a patient of her for the past 6 years because of convenience. She always has same day appointments. I see why now.. She probably cannot keep patients to fill up her schedule. She turned what should of been a very exciting positive visit for me into one that left me angry and shaking. Please stay clear of this Doctor. I do not know how she is still practicing with how rude, insensitive, and over dramatic she is.

Dr. Chen suggested that I have an ultrasound and that I have a full laboratory panel done, I specifically asked her to confirm with her office staff that all procedures would be covered. They were not, but I did not find out until I received the claim from my insurance company months after the appointment. I am now paying off extensive medical bills because the procedures were not covered and I never saw the results of the procedures. My medical condition remains untreated and I cannot afford to see another doctor. This has created additional medical problems for me and financial hardship as well.
