Came here after i got into my car accident and Dr. Ryan Yee was so amazing!! All the staff there were very attentive and patient with everything going on, on a busy night. Dr. Yee is also great at communicating results and giving recommendations for further treatment. Overall, felt very thorough.
I went to the Kuakini ED after poking myself in the eye with a stick (it's a long story). The staff and the ED physician were efficient, compassionate, and thorough. Full disclosure: I am a physician who sees patients at Kuakini. But I will say that after my impressive experience there, and my knowledge of ED care at other institutions in Honolulu, I would not hesitate to send my family to Kuakini for their care, as Kuakini compares favorably.
Terrible care! If they can't care for you, they have their security guards take the mentally sick and injured to the bus stop and leave them there! Then they have to fend for themselves!
My dad was choking on a pill that my mom gave him. We called the ambulance and they took him to the Kuakini ER. They were fast and efficient. We were out of there within two hours. My dad received good care. They took X-rays to make sure that the pill was no longer there. They only found fragments of the pill. They told us that he threw up some of it in the ambulance and the rest must have dissolved. The ER doctor was friendly and gave us options on how we wanted to proceed. This was in early December of 2024.
My husband was just discharged from the Kuakini Medical Center. Staying in the hospital for four days was definitely not on his list of things to do spending the holidays in Honolulu, but the staff in the ED, then the PCU upstairs, could not have been more competent and caring tending to his serious infection. Not too often have we encountered a more professional but laid back physician as Dr Halili in a handsome Aloha shirt, but we're happy he and his team were on the case. They said they don't get too many travelers there (those mainly go to the VA or Queens), but if this was a taste of real locals here in HI, it was a privilege. Mahalo, Kuakini!
DO NOT WORK HERE!!! Worse experience working in this hospital everrrrrrr. They definitely need new management that knows how to run a hospital.Travel nurses do everything they don’t want to deal with and more and still it’s not enough. Makai 4 is full of lazy workers that goes to breaks more than 1 hour and a half and l leave the work for the travelers to do. There’s no such a thing work as a team here.
The emergency room experience right before a three day holiday weekend was a very pleasant one . I thought to switch my primary doctor to a Kuakini transition also pleasant They patrol the hospital like mad Aloha
A huge Mahalo to the Critical Care Medical Team! My Dad was truly blessed for all of you who provided ultimate care during his crisis on September 16, 2024. The initial response to my Dad's heart attack was impeccable, the energy exhausted in the countless attempts for stabilization, surgery, and aftercare were incredible. In addition to the direct care for my Dad, the medical team were attentive, patient, compassionate, and open-minded to our ohana. During a time each second is precious, the team made time to update, explain, and answer questions. An enormous shout out to Dr. Jason Spiker and his team! My Dad was truly blessed to have Dr. Spiker as his surgeon. Mahalo, for your knowledge and execution with all the complications my Dad presented. We are truly grateful to all of you at Kuakini for allowing my Dad another opportunity to embrace life again!
Idiots wouldn't remove me from their phone list.
Went for an EKG PERSON WAS REALLY GGOOD!. Very nice was about a month ago but she was very knowledgeable about her profession.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
