List of Thomas Kosasa's Reviews
I don't believe that women should be mistreated by the healthcare structure, that Dr Kosasa’s practice is interested in billing more than serving, and that they purposely take advantage of the system and the ignorance of the patient to maximize profits. This is unethical and I wish we will see a change by avoiding these practices and exalting the practitioners that stand up for fair and dignifying treatment: from the specialist to the receptionist. This was my experience: I recently started a Tricare Prime membership and was mindful from the beginning to not be billed unnecessarily, I decided that if the care was billable I will just wait to get my tests after I come back to basic Tricare in a few months. Therefore, I was very clear from the beginning that I wanted to know my cost upfront. I called his office about scheduling an appointment and they gave me very unclear information of how much it will cost, telling me that "most likely it will be all covered by the insurance". I was not satisfied with the uncertainty and called tricare select, they instructed me to tell the office to bill it as "Women's health visit " in order for it to be covered. I went to the -very short- first appointment of about five minutes, explained about the billing and was surprised a few weeks later to receive a bill for $120 because it was not billed as women's Health visit. I returned to the office for a second appointment to perform a routine test, I had already called prime Select to double checked that it will be covered and called the office to confirm. When I got there they told me that it might or might not be covered by the insurance, but if I wanted I could pay $45 instead and they wouldn't be filling it to the insurance. Since I was already there and the previous billing did not went well, I did that. At that point I told Dr. Kosasa about re-issuing the first bill as a women's health appointment and he directed the receptionist to do that. Today I called again to cancel an appointment and ask about this bill. The person on the phone told me that they will not change it because the second visit was billed as my women's health visit.... The one that I payed for, to avoid them billing it to the insurance! The person was very unhelpful and inconsiderate, remarking that "she will send the bills and I decide if I wanted to pay them or not". After this experience, I was absolutely displeased concerning the matter of billing, which is an essential part of the Patient-doctor relationship. Nevertheless, this review is not about the doctor himself, since after two very short visits I have only spent a few minutes with him. This is insufficient time to get an opinion about his expertise, character or ethics, but his credibility surely takes a beat by the sketchy practices of the people that he himself has chosen to represent him in dealing with the patients. From now on, I will AVOID THIS PRACTICE!

A wonderful doctor so friendly caring helpful and he hires the best staff to work with him! So glad he was my doctor
Absolutely the best! Thank you Dr. Kosasa and staff. My son will be 3 in January.❤️
Doctor Kosasa is not only a miracle doctor but he is also so kind and positive. He never gave up on my husband and me. Most doctors would've given up after 3 or 4 tries at IVF, not doctor Kosasa. He told me, "We won't give up until we have baby. We'll make plenty plenty eggs so we can keep trying." And that's what he did. We not only kept trying but just seeing doctor Kosasa and hearing his positive, encouraging words helped me to keep trying. After many Many years, we finally have our miracle baby. I am forever thankful and grateful that doctor Kosasa helped us achieve our dreams.
To all my ladies in the TTC community who have been trying and TRYING to get pregnant- just make an appointment with Dr. Kosasa! He's a God-send and here's why... After 6 unsuccessful rounds of clomid prescribed by my OB, I sought Dr. Kosasa's help. He has decades of experience and came highly recommended. I had been hopeful that clomid would have worked since it did in getting pregnant with my 18 month old but it just didn't and I was beginning to get so disheartened and frustrated the more time that passed... Plus, time is not really on my side with me hitting my mid-thirties. Upon meeting with Dr. Kosasa for a consult, I gave him a bit of my history which included irregular cycles, 2 miscarriages and one successful pregnancy (yaaay to rainbow babies!) that had tons of complications of its own. After a quick ultrasound, Dr. Kosasa found that I had polycystic ovaries which increases miscarriage rates to 75% and makes it very difficult to both create a good egg and to ovulate regularly. A.K.A BAD combination when you're trying to grow your family! He immediately prescribed me metformin which I would take 1 dose each day for week 1, 2 doses for week 2 and 3 doses daily starting from week 3 on. Yes, metformin is for diabetics but guess what they have in common with PCOS patients? INSULIN RESISTANCE. Apparently, my insulin resistance from the PCOS was throwing my hormones so out of whack that my ovaries were producing eggs but very teeny weeny ones and I was either ovulating very late or not at all. Long story short, after 4 weeks on metformin, I was having some slight spotting. My OB couldn't see me but Dr. Kosasa said he would do an ultrasound to make sure I was okay. He didn't have to but he did. Come to find out, I was having a little dip in hormones and he found a nice, big, beautiful egg ready to be released! He administered an HCG** shot (**see note below)to take the guesswork out of ovulation dates and instructed me and my husband to "try" everyday for the next three days. I ovulated the next day and 2 weeks later, I got a positive on my [at home] pregnancy test! About a week after my positive pregnancy test and an ER visit for spotting and cramping, I had a follow up with Dr. Kosasa. He reminded me that I should still be taking metformin (which I'd stopped taking after the positive PG test- my mistake!) and he administered a progesterone shot along with strict instructions on taking it easy and NO strenuous activity including (but not limited to) housework and sex. Bummers... Sorry, husband! You're on dishes, laundry AND abstinence! Anyway, without Dr. Kosasa's help, I never would have conceived so quickly. Though pregnancy for PCOS women comes with a whole different set of issues, the hard part is over! Now, we'll be facing progesterone injections twice a week to strengthen my womb and blood tests to make sure hcg levels are rising as they should be but we're looking forward to seeing our baby grow! Thank you, Dr. Kosasa! Thank you for giving my husband and I hope and helping us achieve one of our biggest dreams! You are amazingly kind-hearted and you genuinely care for your patients. I'm so grateful to be one of them! OFFICE LOCATION: You can find Dr. Kosasa's office on the 10th floor in Suite 1040 in the Kapiolani building. Parking is hospital side. Just take elevators to ground level and walk over. **The HCG shot is not covered by all insurance plans. Talk to his staff about it!! They will help you! I have HMSA FED plan and it covered 80% which still required me to pay about $64 for the shot. It must be ordered through PharmaCare and his staff will instruct you on what do to.
Best Doctor. Caring. Professional. The Doctor listens and provides answers to my questions. Doctor Kosasa spent appropriate time with me.
His expertise gave me the best blessing of my life... my son. Thank you.
Dr. Kosasa is simply the best! He is kind, patient, and honest. We have a beautiful baby boy, thanks to God and Dr. Kosasa.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
