List of Derek Johnson's Reviews
Had accident and fractured my hip while I’m Kauai. Dr Johnson made a bad situation pleasant. Starting with initial visit where he brought peace, performed pretty perfect surgery according to my follow up Ortho surgeon In AZ. I liked him so much I went back later for his follow up. He was great and I am not a brave person.
Dr Johnson has now replaced both of my knees. He has a great bedside manor, and superb Surgical techniques.
Do your self a favor and find another Doctor, anyone but him. He is rude and his staff is incompetent!
3 years ago I walked 10 miles a day and other than my wife, that was the most important part of my life. I woke one day with excruciating pain in my knee. After an MRI he explained there is no logical reason for this phenomenon. When I asked if I can resolve it w/o surgery he said he knew of no one who has but some suggest regular walking in a pool might resolve it. I walked regularly for two years. Tremendous relief from pain but my knee still buckled out whenever I walked. I had a full knee replacement 3 months ago and I am already walking 5 miles a day. His attitude, sense of when he sees you that you are the only person he is seeing and tremendous skills (my scar is barely visible) are a testament to just some of the reasons to see him if you have knee issues. I thank him and his support staff for their time, patience and sensitivity to working with non-traditional patients. I am a 74 year old retired academic and set in my way. He taught this old dog some life-saving new tricks.

Absolutely incompetent and should not be practicing medicine. DO NOT SEE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT HIM TO MUTILATE YOU.
I was suffering with rt shoulder pain and Dr Johnson diagnosed my problem, treated me without surgery and now I am pain free. The office was very professional, friendly and very efficient.
Dr. Johnson was efficient and careful with my total knee replacement. He provided specific information about how important it was to follow post-operative procedures in order to prevent clotting. He provided excellent post operative support and did a superb job with my total knee replacement.
This doctor failed to red flag blood blots in my leg after surgery. After follow ups and multiple questions regarding the continued pain and swelling in the leg, he had at least 6 to 7 months to suspect blood clots and never ordered an ultrasound to check. I eventually ended up in the emergency room and was diagnosed with blood clots throughout the leg and pulmonary emboli. I stopped seeing him and obtained another orthopedist. This seriously falls under malpractice. Be very careful people.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
