BEWARE Nowells 1st operation on me for a bowel perforation FAILED leaked. Due to that I lost the majority of my large intestine because it became necrotic. I called him after my surgery said I was sick and in dire straits He said my staples were angry to keep my scheduled appt for days later. Due to that lack of care my poop kept spilling into my abdomen my large intestine became necrotic. Im left with an ileostomymy small intestine sticks out of my stomach like a snake excretes the foulest smelling greasy wet slimy poop that collects in a bag stuck to my stomach I have to dump 10s of timesday a 9 L x 4 12 W abdominal wound that he left open to heal 1yr 7mos later its still not fully healed. Insult to injuryNowell denies I even called him when I was in trouble. Now depression poop in a bag open wound chronic dehydration muscle spasms kidney issues due to chronic dehydration prior medical issues stifled lost job will be selling my home to survive

I was admitted to St. Lukes ER with a large hiatal hernia in severe pain with Dr. Nowell on call. The ER doctor said I would have surgery by 6 am since my stomach was twisted. Dr. Nowell did not see me until 9 am and did not do surgery until 2 days later saying I was not in enough pain. 3 weeks later my stomach was back through the diaphragm. His surgery failed and tests showed he killed my vegas nerve. I had to repeat surgery at Mayo Clinic. I now have gastroparesis a dead stomach.

I had a bad diagnosis but Dr. Nowell made it more bearable by spending the time with me answering all my questions and laying out all the options. I would definitely go back for anything I needed.
