I have the utmost respect for Dr. Abernathy, his office staff and the Mercy medical staff who made my successful discectomy possible. After a month of agonizing pain from a herniated disk, a pain management specialist referred me to Dr. Abernathy (outside our healthcare network), calling him "the best neurosurgeon in IA" Dr. Abernathy explained available options in a straight forward way, answered all our questions and performed a minimally invasive procedure within the same week to resolve my arm numbness and nerve pain! I regained feeling and strength in my arm and fingers and mobility in my neck. I highly recommend him to anyone needing neck and back pain relief.

Excellent neurosurgeon. Would recommend him to any of my friends and family needing neck or back surgery. He was straightforward in explaining options for my situation, risks and success rates, and was able to get me into surgery for a discectomy within a week. I had immediate relief of pain and numbness.

Dr Abernathy did my daughter’s surgery and he is the best! However the older gal who answers the phone might think about if she likes her job. She doesn’t act like it. Had to call for work information and she was rude and hung up.

Worst receptionist ever! Hung up on me after I told her that her demeanor was rude!! A friend referred me to this doctor. Zero help from their intake lady and SUCH AN ATTITUDE!!!

I like him as a doctor but the desk help is absolutely agonizing! I have had to call multiple times to get a few things taken care of and the older lady that i have dealt with every time was very unpleasant and not helpful at all. Other than her the visit was good! Toxic people should not work customer service!

Dr Chad has done both my low back surgeries. He's the best at what he does and I'm a success story. I hope I never need him again, but if I do, I'll be glad it's him. Thanks Dr Abernathy!!
