John R. Brownell's Online Review Report Card

Thorough, Answers all my questions, Knowledgeable, He sends me to specialists when it's appropriate.

We absolutely LOVE Dr. Brownell and his staff has definitely improved over the years!I started seeing Dr. Brownell almost 12 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child... we now have 5 children with 1 on the way and he sees each one of them! He treats us like we are the only patient he has for the whole day, he LISTENS to our concerns and does NOT push any unwanted treatment on us but gives sound medical advice.It’s usually pretty easy to get in with him especially if you call when they open at 8 in the morning... and they are good about fitting us in also!I highly recommend him for his compassion and he is great with kids!!!Hope this helps!!!

I drive two hours now since moving from Cedar Rapids to be able to keep Dr. Brownell as my son's and my doctor. It is a long drive for both of us as we both have extremely debilitating health problems. We also have to drive there monthly to pick up prescription scripts. But the opportunity to have such a talented and totally commited doctor whose countenance exudes kindness, compassion... all the qualities that are so difficult to find in anyone these days far outweighs the difficulty of the drive.I have had more doctors than I can remember. But none could come close to the care provided by Dr. Brownell.He is also accompanied by the best staff as well. They all act as though they were trained by the Disney Employment Institute. It is so easy to complain when something goes wrong with a business. But it is just as important to let others know when you have found those rare gems in goods and service industries.Both my son and I feel so very fortunate to have this great man as our doctor. He also knows the best of all the professionals to refer you to. He is an incredible human being and a genuinely caring doctor. I am grateful beyond words for the care I have received from him over the years.

Dr. BROWNELL & staff are professional, friendly, knowledgeable and caring. When I need a refferal, he carefully chooses the best specialist for my needs.

He used to spend time with his patients. Now he had taken on too much and he makes people wait sometimes over an hour in the waiting room. That is disrespectful.

Dr. Brownell is my family doctor. He is very knowledgeable, and he listens to what you have to say. If he runs into something that requires a specialist, he doesn't mess around. He gets you in to see a specialist right away. He really is a Great Doctor! He cares about his patients, unlike many doctors you find today.

My parents and I have had very bad experiences with him and his office. Staff and office makes a poor impression in appearance and interactions. Medications have needed to be corrected when ordered incorrectly and both doctorand office refused to be accountable. Wait times have exceeded one hour several times. He likes to visit but can be condescending. We are looking for care somewhere else.

Every time they renew my prescription, they oder generic even though they have been informed to prescribe name brand. Last time this occured it was promised to have a note to renew name brand. Also last time we visited, Brunnell office, wwe waited 30 minutes in the general waiting area, and another 40 in the privte waiting room.Terrible service, we will seek a new doctoe. We will see a new office.

Dr. John Brownell is a wonderful, truly caring Doctor! He's been our family Physician for 11 years. And is now my sons family Dr. With 2 children, 1 a newborn. I can rest assured that they will be receiving the best of care. Dr. Brownell's office can be busy on certain days but i do not mind. It's well worth the wait. Dr. Brownell has referred me to 4 of the best specialists over the years. I trust his knowledge as a Doctor fully and i feel he really does care for his patients and their health. His staff is great. And i like the fact that whenever i need to see a specialist i leave with appointment in hand..thanks Deb! Some in my family across the country wait 2 weeks just to get an appointment to see a specialist..again i trust this man's judgement as a doctor..God Bless You for all the hard work you do..Thanks

Does not seem to have time for patients. Frequent 20 minute+ waits in exam room. Does not like to go into detail about his suggested treatment. Nice guy but doesn't seem to have time for individuals who want to know more about their own health.
