Dr. Whitmer & his team are Awesome!!! Like some others have said he is very professional but has fun with you & explains to you so that you can understand. Which made me very comfortable going into surgery. Deb & Becca have always been there to answer questions, too. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Whitmer & his team!!!

Dr. Whitmer performed a highly complex hernia repair for me and I can't express enough how happy I am with him and his team! He was honest and careful. He is truly a gifted surgeon and an asset to have here in Des Moines!

I was referred to Dr. Whitmer after a getting a very large rectus muscle hernia after a total hysterectomy. Barely 8 weeks out of that surgery I learned I would need this hernia surgery very soon. I ready many positive reviews, so I was relieved and excited to meet Dr. Whitmer. I was also referred to him based on his experience with robotic surgery. That was my main goal to fix the hernia without another large incision that would take a long time to heal. I was given a 50/50 chance. Dr. Whitmer was so caring, personal and educated me and my husband on the surgery and recovery putting me totally at ease. I would of done it that day if it was possible. The office got everything scheduled before we left. I had my follow almost a week later. Dr. Whitmer's nurse said that he was excited to hear we were in the office. Wow! He really was. It was a big surgery and he explained all his work in in detail and his excitement about the results. I am very happy with the entire experience and feel extremely lucky to have gotten to be a patient of Dr. Whitmer's.

I had never had surgery before in my life. Dr Whitmer took the time to explain things to me, answer my questions and just put my mind at ease in general. Hes very good, very professional, very friendly, and you get the feeling from him that he truly cares about every patient. I would recommend him to anyone!

I had never had any kind of surgery ever. Dr Whitmer was so amazing through the whole process. He explained things to me in terms a normal person can understand, answered my questions, and just in general put my mind at ease. The surgery process went smoothly, as he said it would, and I came out with very little bruising and very little pain. Im very impressed, I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone!
