Dr. Bender oversees care for several residents at the memory care community at which I work. He also oversees care for a family member. Thorough, compassionate, sensible individualized care at its highest level is greatly appreciated. Dr. Bender is the absolute best of the best for memory care.

I've known Dr Bender for well over 20 years. Worked with him as a nurse way back when he e was Laurel center , at Mercy. I can tell you that he took care of every patient with personalized care and compassion, as if they were his own Mother or Father. Extremely knowledgeable, always looking outside the box if needed. As a nurse of 40 years, he is one of the very best doctors, I was blessed to work with. He is a true mentor to new Doctors and to Nurses! I will always refer patients to him. When I take my mother to see Dr Robert Bender, he treats us like we are his only concern. He has demonstrated his vast experience and knowledge. He also seems to be a great mentor to new doctors.

Dr. Bender was highly recommended to us by another physician in Des Moines. We've had a wonderful experience with him and his staff as he's helped us look into my mother's memory issues. He's kind, thorough, responsive and respectful. My sisters and I are very relieved that our mother is under his care.

Bender does not return phone calls in a timely fashion, even for patients close to death. His end-of-life information is neither accurate nor palliative, and his office staff is rude and incompetent. Bender should retire. He is clearly too old or too busy to take decent care of his patients.

I met Dr Bender over 20 years ago when he took care of my Mother. Now he is caring for my sister and he is the most caring physician I have ever met.

I think Dr. Bender needs to retire!! When an elderly person comes to you to be evaluated, and you score them 25/30, then the person from the state pulls you aside, and then you change your mind, and deem them incompetent. That is clearly Elder Abuse. Now this person has been put in to a facility that they don't want to be there. You have ruined her life!!! Retire before anymore innocent elderly individuals lives are ruined.

He was wonderful with my uncle woo has since passed away. I remember our visit where he told my uncle “it’s my privilege to serve you”! Wow! I’ve never heard a doctor say that. He treated patients with such care! Highly recommend!
