Abha Saxena's Online Review Report Card

Interesting to read a review that says she was on her cell phone during an exam, as we were never able to reach her during emergencies during the time my mother was under her care. After a 3+ month hospitalization during which my mother's condition deteriorated, Saxena fought us tooth and nail in our efforts to transfer to Mayo Clinics for a second opinion. When we finally transferred her, Saxena and team delayed sending vital information to Mayo for three days. When Mayo got the information they were requesting, they had a diagnosis and a treatment that day - and Mom was back home in a week. Mom went back to Saxena, figuring the missed diagnosis was due to relative rarity of her condition. We are now back in the same boat, with Saxena refusing to test for what she missed last time, in spite of the exact same symptoms. Saxena also refuses to refer her to Mayo, claiming she does not meet the criteria - yet Saxena has not been to see my Mother or examined her in over three months. Crazy - how does she still have her license to practice medicine - and how did she get it in the first place? We have many medical professionals in our family, and they are all astounded at this lack of professionalism and lazy, rude approach to patient "care".

I was transferred to Dr. Saxena's care after my doctor left the state. She immediately put me on a medication that should have been preceded with a blood test without the test or seeing me. I had side effects from that drug, reported it, but didn't hear back from her until my first check-up with her 2 months later. She did take a "wait and see attitude" with lifestyle changes until my second and last visit with her. She prescribed meds that were much more than needed for my condition. My daughter, a pharmacist, suggested following JNC protocol for my condition. I had a phone conversation with Dr. Saxena about suggested initial treatment by JNC7, but she wouldn't hear me out and got a bit terse with me. I switched to a Dr. who would listen to me and the initial step for my condition is working without stronger drugs.Dr. Saxena is also hard to understand due to her accent...just adding to the stress of going to the doctor.

Dr. Saxena is an excellent physician. She is kind, professional, and informative. Thanks to her expertise and persistence, she prevented my husband from having a fatal heart attack. This is definately one of Cedar Rapids finest physicians.
