The most helpful people here are the front desk/office associates. The mental health providers here that I have met all really need to have more training. Talking down to your patients is already bad, but exhibiting microaggressive behaviors towards your patients and invalidating their concerns and needs are just unacceptable, particularly for these people who call themselves mental health professionals. I broke down in tears after talking to one of the providers here because, instead of providing mental health counseling, all she did was providing microinvalidations of all my concerns. I did not even realize that she was doing that until I met with my current provider at the Abbe Center in Iowa City. My current provider explained to me that she not only was insensitive, but was also exhibiting textbook microaggression behaviors.

Great experiences at NL location thus far. Pluses for schedule accommodation and front desk staff who were respondent to one of our inquiries and when they couldn't immediately provide a service we were hoping for, referred us elsewhere and followed up to make sure our need had been met.
