Extremely unsympathetic and uneducated on how to treat patients with mental illness- offered me nothing more than wasted time, and patronizing ignorance while refusing to even listen to what I had to say.

Could not be worse if he tried

Dr. Alberts is amazing!!! He listens, he cares, and he knows what he is doing!!! He really does care, its amazing the amount of time he spent each time with me, he wants to engage in what's going on in your life and gives great advice as well!!! He really did help me in my biggest moments!!! He is a great Doctor

Very considerate; you should meet with him a few times so he can understand your needs better. I've been seeing him for four years at this point and I can say that our patient-provider relationship has never been better. Be honest, he will listen and provide his professional opinion leaving options for you to discuss your specific concerns. I have come to appreciate our professional relationship the older I get. Great guy; he knows a ton about mental health issues in addition to general primary care concerns.

Barely listened to me during my appointments. I brought up concerns about a mood disorder (which I was spot-on about) and he dismissed them without a second thought and continued going through the motions of paperwork. It doesn't seem like he cares much about his patients.

I used to see Dr. Alberts back in 2003. This was the year I developed an eating disorder. I would restrict my calories and obsessively exercise, even after intense Track & Field workouts. I felt like he really understood the pain I was going through. He was one of the few people through my long journey of Mental Health Professionals who showed true compassion and empathy. Sometimes that's all you need in a visit. He foreshadowed my Borderline Personality Disorder by more than 12 years (it can be hard to diagnose at age 15) but he recognized the "splitting" that commonly occurs- and no one else did for over a decade. I'm writing a review because as I look back on 16 years of Mental Health treatment, Dr. Alberts stands out as possibly the best Doctor I've had the opportunity to work with. Many Thanks. ~EM

We were led to believe he was a Specialist in adolescence mental health and can evaluate and prescribe meds accordingly. We expected to be able to consult with the Dr both with our son and alone to discuss concerns. I was wrong... the day I finally asked to meet with the Doctor after several months of appts and meds he said the time is for our son not for parents but I had some serious concerns and just went in on my son's appt anyway. I was shocked to hear the Dr tell us that a 16 year has too much pressure with school and a job he works 6 hrs a week. I was shocked to hear him say my son shouldn't be grounded for getting caught in a car with kids and a bottle of vodka by another parent. Every time I tried to share a behavioral concern I was told "Pick your battle" he also said kids dont look at college choices their junior year????? this is just crazy. Now my son is even more defiant and says " see dad your too strict even the doctor said so!" My hands are in the air literally and I'm disgusted. I am sorry I have rules And worry about my son's future! Don't let this doctor treat your child I don't believe he is a Specialist I believe he is a pediatrician BUT seriously this is just ridiculous and we wasted precious valuable time trying to help our son . Sadly he was referred and the referall knows now how upset we are and will never refer out this doctor again.

Been a patient of his for 16 years. He is professional yet approachable. Stays up to date with current practice standards. He really takes the time to talk with you about any issues you have during appointments; shows genuine compassion for his patients. Provides HRT for transgender individuals. He is very educated on the unique health care needs of the LGBTQ population.

My daughters and some young NA friends went to him while struggling with addiction and chemical dependency. All was well and everyone was doing better, but the complaint I've heard more than once from quite a few people was that he is MUCH friendlier with the boys . Very smiley ,patient, buddy buddy and willing to listen..,with girls he is impatient, often annoyed, quite judgemental and short when they describe the same issues.it's obvious he would prefer not have to deal with females at all.
