List of James E. Fanning's Reviews
Dr. Fanning does not review bloodwork, or scans that he required. He barely scanned the reports. He does not answers questions and has a terrible bed side manner. He did not address any symptoms as well as gets off topic often. Overall, this was the worst experience I had with a doctor. I do not recommend him to anyone.
If I could give a 0 I would! This man totally blew my Mom and I off during our appointment. It was obvious when we met with him that he had not reviewed her x-rays, MRI's or CT scans at all. Within 10 minutes of being there he told us (I'm quoting!) "I GUARANTEE that you do not have cancer" "Maybe it's a broken bone" "Radiologists tend to overreact". I wish this oncologist would have overreacted! Luckily my mom's doctor insisted she get another opinion and sent her to the Cleveland Clinic 2 days later. She was diagnosed with Bone Cancer. Would stay away from this guy like your life depended on it - because it probably does!

I was so impressed with Dr. Fanning and his staff. He is very caring and down to earth and spends time with his patients and truly cares about what he does. His staff is A+ and always go the extra mile to make the patients feel happy and cares for!! I never had to wait more than a few minutes for any of my appointments or lab work.
Very difficult to get an emergency appointment. Does not remember information about the individual patient and asks the same questions about the person. Stated it was a slow growing cancer and turned out to be aggressive. So much to say but will just say very disappointed in the care of my family member. Did not order correct tests to determine growth of cancer. Very good at small talk but not giving information needed.
Love Dr. Fanning. He by far is the best cancer Dr. out there. One of the most caring people I have ever met. His staff treated me and my wife like family. My wife saw him for 6 years . She passed in 2011 from stag 4 cancer. I truly be leave with all my heart he gave her Two more years. Him and his staff are amazing. They went above and beyond . My wife loved and trusted everyone at NorthCoast she never felt like a patient there. When She found out she was dying all her nurses and Dr. came in the room to see her showing love and emotion . I love the fact that Dr. Fanning and his staff care so much for all there patience.
DR. FANNING IS WONDERFUL, HOWEVER AT MY CHECKUP VISIT YESTERDAY AND I WAS INFORMED HE WAS LEAVING FOR ANOTHER JOB/DIFFERENT STATE. HE NEVER TOLD ME AND I FOUND OUT WHEN MAKING MY NEXT APPOINTMENT. WOULD HAVE LIKED SOME INFO ON THE NEW DR THAT IS TAKING HIS PLACE. WAS TOLD A LETTER WENT OUT! NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. THEY ASSUME YOU WILL BLINDLY GO TO THE NEXT DR. TAKING OVER.
Dr. Fanning originally treated me when we worked out of the Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Fanning has a fantastic bedside manner. He's polite, funny, and cares very much for his patients. I was a scared 19 year old with ovarian cancer and he not only saved my life he made me smile and wouldn't allow me to feel sorry for myself. He performs quick, painless exams and his staff are high quality as well. Having a female reproductive cancer is horrible but if you find yourself in that situation, I highly recommend Dr. Fanning.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
