Dr. Rick Kava's Sioux City Dental's Online Review Report Card

I just saw Dr. Kava for my initial consultation. I have a couple of complex problems. As a healthcare provider myself, I’m very selective when it comes to my own providers. Dr. Kava has a very high level of expertise that is unusual in his profession. Not only is he highly experienced, but he also sought out additional training in order to take his practice to the next level. He is a very diligent dental surgeon who strives for excellence. Consider yourself lucky if you are a patient of his!

Amazing dentist with an super nice staff! I had a tooth removal with a bone graft under iv sedation and was easily the most comfortable procedure. Very little pain afterwards as well. Thank you Dr.Kava!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Kava. Initially, I visited for a routine filling replacement, but one of the fillings he placed cracked shortly after, resulting in the need for a $900 crown (which I will have fixed by a new dentist). To make matters worse, I felt completely dismissed and gaslit during the appointment when I was visibly upset. Dr. Kava's comment, "it's just a tooth," was incredibly insensitive and unprofessional. Additionally, he recommended that I get braces, which I absolutely do not need because I already had them as a teenager, twice. This further eroded my trust in his judgment and recommendations. Due to these experiences, I do not trust Dr. Kava and will not be returning to his practice.

From the ladies at the front desk to the Dr. himself , super friendly and informative! No need to be afraid of this dentist!! Sedation is the only way to go and Dr Kava is King!

I’ve been scared of the dentist since a bad experience I had a couple years ago, I would recommend Dr.Kava to anyone who is nervous or scared! Dr. Kava and his staff were wonderful!

This was the worst experience of my life, the doctor was rough and had no bedside manner. He removed a wisdom tooth and in his words " I was not expecting that" and neither was I. It has scared me for life and the pain is unreal. My face is swollen and bruised, like never before after a dental visit. He scratched my face with his instrument forced a wedge in my mouth and ripped it out with no care. I cried in pain the majority of the time he forcefully attempted to pull my wisdom tooth out. He chipped my top tooth with his instrument while forcefully grinding my wisdom tooth. He bumped my teeth as he went in and out of my mouth with his tools. He forced my mouth open by pulling at the corners of my mouth. I received three stitches and was verbally yelled at by the doctor and told "Would you hold still"! My husband heard my cries from the waiting area and was told he could not come to comfort me. I felt as if my lower jaw was being ripped downward as the dentist struggled, my neck ached in pain from him forcefully wiggling my tooth in hopes it would loosen up. I can still not feel parts of my face on the left side and right side. I called the office to get assistance for aftercare and my doctor's note and was told they needed payment first. I was never informed of the risks, possibilities, or what to expect upon arrival or departure. My husband had to call to get a little instruction from this office. I do not recommend this Dentist at all

Dr. Kava is an excellent dentist.

From the staff, to Dr. Kava, my overall experience was great. Very professional yet personable. I needed a tooth pulled for the first time and my anxiety was high. He made this process simple, painless and cost efficient. Thank you so much Dr. Kava and staff!

Staff was very helpful. Dr. Kava was timely and explained everything very well.

Needed an emergency visit and was able to get right in. No wait, no hassles. Took care of my problems.
