List of Andrew K. Bean's Reviews
I have been with Dr Bean for years and would not consider going to anyone else. He is very knowledgeable and cares deeply for his patients. I have had several skin cancers removed and see Dr Bean every 3-6 months. I have also worked with his PAs and nurses, I find them caring and knowledgeable as well. My questions and concerns are always addressed in a professional manner.
Long wait all around. Waited a long time for my appointment, then waited an hour and a half in the lobby before they called me back. Need to be more respectful with peoples time. Embarrassing that an office still operates like this.
Top notch people.
I would highly recommend this clinic. Our entire family sees these doctors and have found them to be thorough and professional. After scrolling the the reviews, most are critical of their office, length of time to be seen, etc. We have never had that kind of negative experience. If we have an urgent need, we are able to be seen at one of the three clinics in the area. Yes, they are fast, but very thorough. We are usually seen by a PA or NP initially. Then a doctor comes in to review their findings, visit with us and, if necessary, perform a procedure. Some removals may be done by the PA/NP.
Helped me with skin infections. Healed in 2 or three weeks. They give you written instructions to take home that Helped.😊
My husband had Basel cell removed from his face. A nurse stiched it after the surgery. After 2 weeks, he had the stitches removed. There was a gap, so a nurse removed the stitches and applied adhesive. To our horror this morning there is a quarter inch wide open gab on his face....and no one is answering the phone at Been's office!
Dr, Bean has been taking care of my skin cancers for over 30 years. He is patient, kind, listens to everything and explains things till you understand. He is truly an awesome Doctor who actually cares about his patients. He has helped me tremendously.
This review is for his office, not Dr. Bean as I have not met him. It took me 4 months to get in to see the PA, which is upsetting when there is a true concern of health to have to wait so long. Front desk staff were kind. The medical assistant was great and respectful. She returned with the PA. The PA rushed faster than any medical professional I have ever seen. She asked me questions but was quick to cut me off and interrupt. She didn't listen to me at all and didn't believe all I said. She said 4 rude comments (I am not sensitive but it was inappropriate). I had 1 main concern and 4 other concerns. She focused on 1 concern, which was not the main issue and prescribed me a medication that is over $500 when there are medications that are $10 that are effective. I have kids besides the fact I do not want to spend that amount on a topical medication I cannot have a $500 medication at home with kids, who might get into something. Most of my skincare issues were not addressed at all and just brushed aside. She did a skin cancer screening and I know she didn't take the time to get a good look at all. The CMA said I could come back and have the main issue taken care of if it bothered me...of course it did or I wouldn't have come. I probably will try to only see a doctor or go to a different office. I do not want to see this PA again, she was not professional at all.
I've had a standing appointment for over three months. They called to cancel my appointment that is still over a month away. I've been on their call list the entire time in case a sooner appointment opens up. I was never called for a sooner appointment. When they called to cancel, they wanted to reschedule for even later out in the year. Unless you're sick or dying, you cannot cancel appointments over a month in the future. If you're going on vacation, you should have notified your office further in advance. This is unacceptable. I'm glad I'm not going here anyway, because of other reviews I've saw where they insisted on shaving the scalp for the tiniest incision. Such bad business practice.
Made an early appointment (8:15) thinking I wouldn't be kept waiting as long as my last appointment (over an hour in the lobby) I was wrong. I have been here for 50 minuites, still not seen Dr.Bean. Only reason I'm giving them two stars is because Dr.Bean is competent enough, just not sure that he was worth the wait. Must be other dermatology offices in the state of Iowa that do not keep their patients waiting this long.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
