Dr Hammer was condescending and dismissive. He just performed cataract surgery on both eyes. My left eye isn't right, it's blurry and my peripheral vision is clouded. I was there yesterday for the final check. I asked about the lenses he put in, he said they were designed specifically for me. My right eye is now 20/20, my left is 20/30, they should be the same. I asked why is the right eye clear and the left isn't-He said because the world isn't perfect. He said he's happy and he said I can see you aren't smiling, basically shrugged and left. He also said something about my cornea. I told him I don't know what that means. He said he didn't expect me to but never explained it. I think it's time for him to retire. He doesn't care about his patients. I saw the low ratings, I should have paid attention. No one should walk out after surgery feeling like the surgeon is saying "it's good enough".
Cataract removal and insertion of lenses. No explanation regarding how I would feel after, the pain involved. When I went the next day, tried to talk to him about it, he talked over me and told me to tell myself I was fine he ran out the door. I had no problem with the second eye. 5 weeks later, went for a final visit, he kept talking over me but I pushed back. Told him my left eye wasn't right. Said it looks fine to him. He said the lenses were designed for my eyes. I asked why then can I see better out of my right eye than my left. His educated answer: Because the world isn't perfect. He said he could see I wasn't smiling and he walked out. That was it. My right eye is perfect, but now I need bifoculs, not just readers, because he messed up my left-eye by putting in the wrong lens and wouldn't fix it. He said there was something about my cornea but wouldn't explain. I won't go back to him and my husband is changing doctors as well. NOTE: good reviews you see for Hammer are old reviews.
Not a good experience. I was left feeling neglected by the doctor, he was in and out of the room in a very short amount of time. No talking with me and making me understand how my damaged eye was doing. I left feeling dejected that I had just paid a doctor to treat me that way and had been at the office for over an hour for that visit.
Brad is the very best. I have been a patient for 20 years and have complete confidence in him. He is a perfectionist and, believe me, when someone is working on your eyes this is really important. I heartily recommend him.
My wife went to Dr. Hammer because her doctor was ill. Dr. Hammer came into the room and without disinfecting his hands he touched her eyes. He then looked at her eye for about 10 seconds and went right to saying she needed surgery without trying to rectify the problem. He wasn't nice about anything. He basically yelled at her when we tried to ask further questions. We said we wanted to get a second opinion.
Dr Hammer made me feel completely at ease with my first visit to an opthalmologist. He explained everything in terms that was understandable. He asked if I had questions and made sure that he answered in a way that I completely understood. He was not in a hurry to leave room to go to next appt. I would highly recommend him for your eyecare needs.
I have been going to Dr. Hammer for almost 30 years. He is a caring professional.
Dr. Hammer is a extremely qualified eye doctor and has a great chairside manner. I would recommend him to anyone who ask me . You won't be disappointed. I have been going him for many years
Absolutely the best!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
