List of Plaza Dental Group's Reviews
This was my first time at Plaza Dental. Really liked the type and quality of care I received. Dr Langel and Lacey were great.
Dr Dietrich did a filling for me and it was literally the fastest I've been in & out of a dentist's chair. It was also pain free. A very good dental experienc! Thank You!!
I had excellent service with Plaza Dental Group Des Moines and they was very friendly.
After paying Plaza Dental Group $50,000 for full restoration dental implants they threw me under the bus after the dentist that did the work left and moved to another practice. They refused to provide service for the product that they sold to me. I began having an issue with a failed implant last July and they refused to work on me outside of providing a prescription for the infected implant. As of today, March 13th 2025, I have finally been successful in finding a doctor willing to work on me and getting the failed implant removed. The nearly 8 month delay left me with an abscess and a hole blown out of the front of my upper gum tissue. Their excuse was that nobody at the practice wanted to cover the patients of their former employee. I wrote the $50,000 check to Plaza Dental Group, not the Dr. that did the work. If you are thinking of having any significant work done I would go somewhere else. They will screw you over at the drop of a hat. And hey, Plaza Dental Group, I’m just getting started. You will be hearing from me again, get ready!
Had another great experience at Plaza Dental today! They were quick, thorough, checked a sensitive spot to be sure no problems were developing.
I was a patient of Plaza Dental Group for YEARS despite many changes in who my dentist was and the dental hygienist (I had at least three main ones over the years, and have nothing but positive things to say about them). During recent major storms in Central Iowa where there was a severe storm warning, I attempted to call to say I was not coming due to the storms and being told to be in a shelter. Nobody answered, I assume because they were also in shelter. The storm warnings and sirens happened several times that day. Eventually, I called again and reached someone and said I was not coming because of the severe storm warnings and the constant changes in the weather. Both of my children were in shelter right before this call at their respective schools in West Des Moines, so it wasn't like I was being ridiculous. Instead of having a normal response, I was told I would have to pay $50 for cancelling within 24 hours. This was despite the fact there was a legitimate safety issue. No joke, my invoice for $50 for cancelling came just TWO days later in the mail. I am appalled that a dental office I have visited for 10+ years would so casually care less about the safety of their clients, and then have the audacity to send me a bill almost immediately thereafter. I will never go here again and would strongly discourage others. As this was posted elsewhere, I did receive comment from other friends about other negative customer service experiences here. Again, while I find it silly, I would generally have been fine paying the $50 cancellation fee as I was aware of this policy (which of course they didn't use to have) and understand "no shows" cost them money. However, it's another thing to fine me when there was a legitimate safety issue. A teeth cleaning is not worth getting killed over.
About 6 years ago I received a dental implant from Dr. Mohan. I didn't know much about implants, but decided to get one to fill in the gap that a cracked tooth left behind. After 6 yrs i can say it's the best decision I made. I have had no pain or complications (except for the time I didn't floss around the implant when I first got it-which caused a problem) But I have flossed consistently since then and not one problem. Thank you Dr. Mohan for a great job.
Update: Also... after writing this review I received MANY unwanted phone calls and messages from Dr. Mohan and the staff in her office. They contacted me when I posted and still in November 2022 Dr. Mohan messaged me to try and get me to take down my review. PLEASE do not use this office. I am still dealing with all the horrible work she did on my teeth that I didn't even need. The dentist I saw after her was SHOCKED by the amount of work I had done when my teeth weren't even in bad shape. I was a CHILD when I was a patient and I didn't know any different. So now being an adult and having been dealing with all the issues she caused I decided to review my experience. The worst being she caused me to have two root canals, one was immediately after work she did hitting my nerve and the last was within the last 5 years. Thankfully my dentist after Dr. Mohan saved my tooth for a few years but he said I would need a root canal eventually due to how much damage was on the tooth and being so close to the nerve. I couldn't chew on that side of my mouth for a few years until I finally got that fixed. I now have an extreme fear of the dentist. I had extreme cold sensitivity as well. My teeth are still sensitive but thankfully I have finally fixed all the bad work she did. Most of the fillings I had were leaking which could cause bacteria to get into them. Since fixing all the issues I have not needed more work other than routine cleanings. But others deserved to know about my experience. Please do not trust her with your children. My mom went there because she liked the relaxed atmosphere and that they did paraffin wax treatments on your hands while you got a cleaning. But she regrets sending me there as she saw how much pain I was in. For everyone's information I was a patient around 2006-2007 and her office asked why I waited so long to write a review. I was a child when I was a patient. I had no idea how to hold them accountable. Just within the last few years I've found a dentist I actually trust with my teeth and that has helped me to understand that what she did was wrong. As well as dealing with the repercussions of her dental work for the last 17 years. Please do your research as I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience. I hope she has learned from her past mistakes and doesn't do unnecessary work or not care when her patients are in pain. However, I would proceed with extreme caution. I only posted this update as the office seems to desperately want me to take down my review. Instead they got an update with a more detailed version of my experience. To Dr. Mohan and the staff of her practice. I do not want anyone to reach out. I will not delete my review. I have explained why I waited so long to write a review as well. My experience was extremely awful and caused me a lot of pain and others to fix the work you did. If anything I really hope you would just apologize for causing this and we move on. I have hope that you can change for the better but unfortunately your actions to discredit my honest review leave me to believe you haven't changed from my previous perspective.
Overall great and warming experience with Lacey. She highly recommended this Waterpik, which I wish I had one before. Great choice! Thank you again and see you for future visits:) Tell her she’s amazing - Matthew Valadez

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
