James Olson's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Olson and his staff took great care of me. I wasn’t the easiest to deal with but they answered my questions and responded to my concerns. The surgery could not have gone better.

After a complete surprise of a diagnosis I asked my friends and family in cancer care what surgeon to go to. Dr Olson was the answer from all. He is the gold standard in this field here in Boise. I appreciate his straight forwardness and have never felt rushed. His staff is also excellent. I've had one surgery thus far and will need more in the coming months. I feel lucky that he is guiding me through an extremely difficult journey.

I just wanted to get on here and say that Dr. Olson is amazing and I am so glad I found him. He has a wonderfully cheerful, professional, and appropriately humorous demeanor that helps put me at ease whenever I go to see him - his "bedside manner" is superb. The way he conducts himself helps put me at ease whenever I go, as I am generally fearful of going to the doctor, and I always feel like my experience as a patient is important to him. He has performed colonoscopies on me on two different occasions now, and both times he removed polyps that would have inevitably turned cancerous if not for his intervention. He always takes the time to explain things to me and he is an EXCELLENT listener - I never feel rushed at his office and he does such a great job of allowing me to communicate what I have going on with him. I always feel like I am in good hands when I entrust him with my healthcare. Thank you Dr. Olson!!!!

Dr Olson is amazing and a great Doctor and surgeon as well as very informative and will tell you what you need to hear in a way you can understand. I am glad I was referred to him!

Dr. Olson was quite awful. He was very disrespectful and rude to my wants and desires. I needed options and guidance with an issue that I have been struggling with for the past several years. What I got were snarky remarks, a dismissive attitude, and an inhumane outlook on my situation. It seems Dr. Olson struggles with empathizing with his patients as well as communicating effectively the totality of a situation. When I wanted more clarification on certain subjects, he seemed very annoyed at the prospect of helping me understand the potential SURGERY I may have. I would not recommend Dr. Olson to anyone who wants an empathic doctor and one who can explain things properly.

Dr. Olson was professional, kind and I appreciate a straight forward approach to health care needs. He always took the time to explain the surgery and answered questions pre-op, post-op and through discharge and follow ups. I never left wondering with unanswered questions. I highly recommend Dr. Olson if you want peace of mind when needing surgery.

In 2009 a colnoscopy found a large polyp that had been bleeding for a while, leading me to think I had hemerroids. After seeing other Dr's who suggested I may need a colon removal and a colostomy bag at age 44, I luckily found Dr Olson. He assured me that a removal would be a last resort. He performed 2 surgeries to remove the polyp and the margins since T cells were found on the polyp. He and his staff treated my wife and I very well and explained what and why he was using his treatments. It has been 11 years now and I have not had any further problems. I highly recommend Dr Olson!

Not impressed with Dr Olson. His bed side manor is greatly lacking as is his helpful information. Dont ask him to write anything down, he doesnt do that.

This guy did a surgery on my father. Afterward two doctors told him he messed up the surgery, but his arrogance would not let him accept that. He let my dad die even though our own experts believe he could have been saved even after the initial mistake. Jim Olson and his arrogance killed my father.
