List of Martha Wilson's Reviews
Arguably the worst "dr" in the region. Refuses to follow up on any scans or tests you get done regardless of their importance or the results which is terrifying. She doesn't fill medication prescriptions again regardless of what they are or how mandatory they are so get used to emergency refills and explaining how incompetent she is to pharmacists on a regular basis. She was fired from the medical office downtown for being incompetent and putting patients at risk several years ago but didn't tell her patients or old office where she was going so we all had to track her down, ever since she refuses to pay for a secretary to take calls so it's impossible to get ahold of her so we patients suffer so she can save money. The worst part of all this is she's currently on probation for doing exactly this, the college of physicians back in June charged her for neglecting her patients and breaking her probation... Which unsurprisingly was for neglecting her patients.... They only charged her 15k and suspended her license for a day but she should have been removed from ever practicing medicine again, she's not a dr, she's dangerous for everyone who has the misfortune of being her patient.
Our so-called family doctor. Absolutely useless. My wife has a severe disability and I have copd, she will not return our requests for appointments, been waiting over 6 months for my lab results and will not renew prescriptions. Never answers the phone and never responds to messages. I know she had disciplinary action against he by the college of physicians and surgeons less than 2 months ago for negligence, they should have revoked her license completely. My wife has been in the hospital for 2 days so far but Wilson( I won't call her doctor) has not gone to see her even though she is supposed be our family dr. And despite numerous requests from her colleagues. She is unquestionably a piece of garbage
Dr. Wilson may be a good doctor, but any positive aspects of her practice are outweighed by her terrible lack of organization. I needed an essential prescription to be refilled, called her 7 times over the course of multiple weeks to request for a refill of said prescription, and she never got back to me. Eventually I gave up and went to the walk in clinic, as I had already used all my emergency refills. The lack of care she shows for her patients is appalling, I have never met a doctor who ignores their patient to this degree. It is verging on negligence. Avoid at all costs, the walk in clinic is much better.
Awful Doctor and practice. Dr. Wilson does not have staff so she has to handle all her patients requests herself. She does not have a phone number, only an answering machine so you can never talk to an actual person in a timely manor. If you leave a message, you may be waiting weeks or months to respond because she chooses not to employ staff. Doctors in BC are paid very well on the expectation that they employ other people to help them run an efficient and effective practice and Dr. Wilson chooses to not do that at the expense of her patients. Please choose a different doctor, her license should be revoked.
Martha probably isn't for everyone -- she isn't always the most organized, and you need to do some of your own follow up, but I've noticed that has improved a lot recently. The important thing to me is that she listens carefully and has a great deal of deep knowledge. On a number of occasions she has asked questions that have led to discovering issues I didn't even come in to see her about. When people complain about her being late I'd like to point out that that's because she's spent more time than she "should" with her patients. She is also very open to working with alternative modalities and doesn't let her ego get in the way.
So very happy with the care I received from Dr Wilson. She is very knowledgable and provided me with information and direction toward options I needed to retain my health.
Impossible to get ahold of. She rarely answers her messages.
Always wait a very long time. Keeps forgetting to arrange tests for serious health concerns. Very pleasant though and is great with my children.
I have never gone into her office and waited less than an hour to see her. Her punctuality is terrible, and she is completely unhelpful when I do get in. I am quite young, and had a rare case of pancreatitis as a young teenager. Though I am aware that it would be hard for her to have known at the time, she waved me off as dramatic when I told her the intense pain I was having. Gave me tums for it though stomach issues weren’t a symptom, and only allowed bloodwork to be done when requested by my family. My mom had to come in and talk to her for me as she wouldn’t listen to me as I was apparently too young to be taken seriously . When I could finally get bloodwork, my pancreas levels were hundreds above normal. I do not recommend her to anyone, least of all young people, as she will not take your needs seriously and she will dismiss you and your symptoms, as she has done to me on many occasions.
Dr. Wilson is knowledgeable and tries her best to work within the constraints of the system. She is however always late, and terrible at follow up. Forms aren't sent in causing problems with extended medical or WCB, or referrals to specialists. Test results are not followed up on. You can't get another doctor in Nelson if you already have one so once you are her patient, you are stuck.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
